Over many epics, across different cultures around the world, the role of woman is widely shaped differently throughout all of these written works. Most of these differences derive from cultural aspects that are worlds wide in conflicting views and beliefs. One view point that is interpreted differently in epics is the role in which women portray and how women are viewed in society. When comparing and contrasting the Quran and Ovid’s Metamorphoses, we find conflicting opinions on how these woman are portrayed and how cultural society treats them in a gender role-ruled culture.

There are so many different religions in the world. We will look at the striking differences between Hinduism and the three well known monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In doing some research into each of these religions we can find differences right away. Hinduism stands out among the four because it is in one way a pantheistic religion but it is also a polytheistic one as well. A pantheistic religion is one that believes in God being one with the universe. Monotheistic means the belief in one God and polytheistic means the belief in many gods. Hinduism is both a polytheistic and a pantheistic religion.

The Five Pillars of Wisdom are the guidelines for Islamic religion which set rules for Muslim’s daily life; from their eating habits to what they are expected to give. The first pillar represents the ‘Shahada’ which is the “profession of faith” where Muslims must confess that there is only one god which is Allah, and Muhammad is the pophit. The second pillar represents the ‘Salat’ which are daily prayers. Muslims are expected to be in “constant prayer” and pray five times a day. In Brown’s book Big History: From the Big Bang to the Present she gives small background information on Islamic religion. One point being how Islamic religion started and when Muhammed was born. She claims Muhammed was born in Mecca around 570 and it started with Muhammed and his small group of followers. He started off as a small merchant but married into a wealthy family. Brown also states one of Muhammed’s earliest revelations that there is only god, Allah, the creator of the everything in the universe. Muhammed died in 670. Islam was born in the early seventh century, Mecca. It is world’s second largest religion after Christianity and also one of the fast-growing religion in the world1. Islam quickly spread in Arabian Peninsula and by the eighth century the empire of Islam was extended from Iberia in the west to the Indus River in the east. Their Beliefs are oneness of god, prophets, revealed books, angels, predestination, and day of resurrection. It has 4 main denominations; Sunni, Shia, Ibadi and Sufism. More than %75 of Muslim population believes Sunni denomination.2 About %15 population of Muslims live in Sub-Saharan Africa3 which is include eastern part of Africa.
Christianity and Islam though both originate from Abraham have extremely big differences in beliefs. In this paper I will discuss each principle of the beliefs of each and how Islam denies teachings in the bible of Christianity and how both were created. I will also discuss their beliefs on how the world will end. In the end I will conclude with putting my own opinion on the subject.
