What are Steps of Design Thinking?
Design thinking is made of 5 stages: Empathize Define Ideate Prototype Test
According to Stanford (n. d.), empathize is the phase where the design thinking starts at. The design thinker has to feel empathy towards the group of people or individuals he/she is trying to solve problems for. After empathizing, the design thinker then has to define the problem. According to Stanford (n. d.), this problem should be phrased in a statement, which is also called a point-of-view. This statement is what guides the design thinker. It contains the insights and needs of the people with the problems to be solved. Ideate is the third stage and as its name suggests it is all about concentrating

Before working on this project, I thought design thinking would be a very complicated thing to learn and apply. However, I found out that it is the complete opposite. I learned that the design thinking steps are set to make things easier and to ensure that the solution succeeds. I am very happy about the fact that I was able to understand the 5 steps of design thinking and how those will help to solve the problem. To start with, these steps were the ones that help me come up with the solution. Especially the first step about empathizing. This step helped me to look back in my community and identify a time where I felt sorry for someone. I realize that same time, I felt sorry for people who had to come to the office over and over again. I was also reminded about the fact that I heard many people complaining about the daily emails sent by people to inform them when they are out and in the office over and over again. Working on this issue, I got new thoughts of talking to people in the office, and students in general. I know that the problem exist, but with the design thinking steps, I learned that you have to let it all come from the end user. It helped me to not just base on my knowledge and this will help me to minimize or reduce assumptions in my solution. My next step after today is to find people that I can talk to about the identified issue, and to also survey a number of people to get accurate data. …show more content…
It was a little bit hard because it seemed like asking what I already know. It was like trying to avoid what you already know and focus on hearing from the others and how they think of the problem. At first, it was also hard to get to the point of view statement. This is because there are many moving pieces of the problem. However, learning from the project resources, I was able to know how to formulate a POV statement. Now that I learned the issue, and confirmed that there is for sure a communication problem, the next step is to find a solution. My understanding is that it is going to be tricky to find a solution that allows only people who want to know the whereabouts of the tech and finance staff members. This is maybe because the idea of email is stuck in my head, but I have to move past that and think more creatively. Thanks to the design thinking process, I believe that I will get to a more suitable solution of the existing problem. With today’s activity I believe I completed the define phase of the design thinking process, next time I will be moving to the “ideate”
The self-assessment tests we had to take at the beginning of the semester reassured me that I was on the right path academically and career wise. I learned my interest areas are investigative and conventional match with my accounting career choice. My work values of achievement and relationships

Week Six: Standard 7– Micropolitical Leadership This Friday concluded another successful internship week at Anson High School. The focus was on staff communication, classroom management and establishing consistency with our positive behavior intervention system (PBIS). Although technology is at our fingertips, it is clear that many staff members fail to check their email on a consistent basis.
This inspired Dennis to go back to college and earn his degree to get out of his rut. I can relate to this. Prior to this class, I did not attend school for two years. Completely lost, I have been working multiple dead end jobs looking for my future career. I turned back to school after giving up on many different leads.
Erik Erikson was a stage theorist that emphasized on psychosocial development. His theory is the expansion of the Freud’s psychosexual theory. Erikson claimed that the development of the personality is based on the eight stages of lifespan model of development which he proposed. The eight stages of the lifespan model of development consist of “Trust vs Mistrust”, “Autonomy vs Shame”, “Initiative vs Guilt”, “Industry vs Inferiority”, “Identity vs Role Confusion”, “Intimacy vs Isolation”, Generativity vs Stagnation” and “Ego Integrity vs Despair”. The first stage of our lifespan is “Trust vs Mistrust” stage.
1.1) Different communication methods are used in the business environment to achieve correct outcomes and obtain sufficient records accordingly across a wide range of tasks and requests. The most efficient form of communication should be identified early in the job – considering the current issue, deadlines, state of any data (offline/online) and number and location of all individuals involved. This ensures that the best form of communication is selected. For instance; you need to make contact with a colleague who works in a different department regarding an alteration to a member of the public’s details. An Email would be the best form of written communication as the task is not a priority, all the data could be kept computerized to save time and verbal contact is not necessary.
I admire how the students all showed interest and followed through with the course experiment. At first everyone was hesitant, not believing they could change their lives. The students later realized they could and were all willing
I learned what it took to be successful, that I couldn 't just go through the motions. I learned one of the most important lessons of my college career thus far, and it is this- in order to be successful here (at Texas A&M), you must immerse yourself in every lesson, every lecture, every class. Everything must be 100%, and not a second should go to waste. Each moment is a moment to learn and to better yourself and your knowledge. There will be concepts that you just don 't understand, and when that road block is reached, immediate action must be taken; there 's a commonly spoken line that I never really listened to until recently, and that line is, "don 't be afraid to ask for help!"
The presentations provided me a great learning experience for me to teach and share what I know in a classroom setting while getting feedback. I felt more at ease with my second workshop in regards to the transition process/pathway to graduate school, as I was sharing my personal experience mixed with that of the facts and figures that I had research to give students a clear understanding of the process. With my future goals of becoming an advisor at a Community College for a first year experience (FYE) program, I am glad to put on my resume that I have started to gain experience teaching, as teaching a college prep course are the duties of advisors in FYE
But since I began reading my perspective started to change because the essay provided me information about operation thinking. Allow me to understand that thinking is a process especially
I’m learning so much about the field, how the staff works, and what the environment can be like at a treatment facility only working with women. I actually don’t have recommendations or any specific changes in this course. Assigned to do four hours of seminars was so informative, updating my resume, and then writing a report about the internship experience is very valuable. It has helped me understand and it has painted me a picture of what my future career might be like working in this field. I know there is so much more to learn, but this was an amazing place to

However, the goal is to produce an outcome; if they cannot continue through the process because of conflict, the team may not get a satisfactory result and progress will stall and the team will fail to perform the task, will not get to evaluate on their experiences or present a finished product (Tuckman 1965). Additionally, it requires participants to use an in-depth method of thought called critical thinking. This process will challenge them to look at different aspects of why the event happened, and they might find that they had a misconceived understanding beforehand and, that, has changed as they explore further and internalise what they have learned.
Rhetorically speaking, how often do we wonder why management positions have a high turnover rate or how often we as leaders blame our followers for failures instead of looking within at our own leadership skills or lack of. Too many leaders become complacent or comfortable instead of continuing to learn, grow and evolve the ever-changing dynamic of leadership. Probably one of the most neglected, yet most important skills to nurture is that of communication. Effective communication is the difference between success and failure as a leader. My biggest challenge as a new leader was a lack of tact in my communication style.
I ended up losing track and skipping a few of my questions. Also, it was hard to my train of thought, listen to what she was saying, remember her points, and get ready to ask my next questions all at the same time. I ended up just reading my questions off the paper. It sounded kind of stiff. Next time I conduct an interview I will become very familiar with all my questions so I can orchestrate the interview
