Foremost, I work extremely hard in class maintaining a solid GPA of 4.0. My high school courses consist of advanced placement courses and courses that are geared towards my interests. While I believe in achieving the most and being challenged, I also want to learn things that genuinely interest me. Learning to me comes easier if I am intrigued by the information.
Going into highschool, I was constantly asked by family, friends, and teachers the dreaded question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” While other fifteen year olds at the time seemed to know exactly what their dream occupation was, I had no clue. I went to school, studied, got good grades, but no specific class stood out to me as a favorite. This continued until I took my first chemistry class in my freshman year and my blurry idea of my future started to come into focus.
My educational goals are to achieve my Associates of Arts degree. During this process I hope to find my drive and passion and continue my education in order to reach this goal of a career that I love. Without achieving my Associates of Arts degree and providing me time to figure out what career field interest me the most I would be jumping into an unknown field in hopes that I like
Being a part of advanced placement classes in middle school, I expected loads of difficult work to come my way once I entered Fenway High School. These advanced classes prepared me well to succeed in high school. Although I took these higher classes, I was never good at math. Math was my worst subject because I did not like dealing with numbers. I am a history and science type of student, I prefer learning these subjects rather than math. Although I struggled with math, my math grades were all around a B.
I am studying a Psychology degree and this field I have chosen really interests me because I have a passion for helping people. Generally, I am that type of person to put other's happiness and well-being before my own, because it makes me feel like I have a sense of purpose. Also, since I was a little girl I have always been so fascinated with the way people interact, behave, think and feel. I always asked 'why?' and I still do to this very day. No one person is the same as another, we all interact, behave, think and feel differently, and I think this is what amazes me the most.
Jackie Robinson stated one of my favorite quotes, "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." For two semesters, I have participated in the Community College Completion Corps. I have served as both Sub-Chair planner and Vice President of membership; in the former position I led the campaign. This event educates Tarrant County College Southeast Campus students as wells as faculty members about the importance of graduating from community college. By holding a three-day event, the committee members promoted the benefits of completing community college. We planned for this event for approximately two months and executed it in three days. The result was that more than 2,500 students pledged to complete college at the end of this event. Consequently, our membership rose by approximately 40%. All these accomplishments were significant achievements for our chapter as a whole and had a great impact on me. The Community College Completion Corps event was particularly important to me because I was always told that I would end up married and without a degree.
When I think of my best accomplishment the verse from James 3:5 sticks to me. "A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire". Being a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club (BCA) for five years at my school and president for the last three has been a journey that I can 't quite put into words.
Through high school, I competed with some of the smartest kids in the district, being that we were a new school and one of the richest, pulling from certain areas and sections of neighborhoods. I also tried to diversify myself by joining and playing in the varsity band playing on my school’s football team and joining several clubs and association along the way. One that has affected me the most would be the engineering club at my High school. The Technical Student Association is at its core and joining of the vex robot team and this year the BEST or UIL robotic team it’s where I’ve had most of my growing as a person. With having, to compete mentally, but also interact personally with my teammates and other teams everyday helped mold me into who I am today. This year as a leader in robotics and on the TSA chapter leadership team has given me qualities of project planning and group mentorship that I couldn’t have received somewhere else. I participated in all these extracurricular and to take AP and Pre-AP classes all four years. Receiving 3’s and high on all of my AP exams and managing a 3.0 and higher
My high school career has been very difficult at times, between working, keeping my grades up, and participating in extracurricular activities. I’m proud to say that I stuck with the things I enjoyed. I know that I would not be the same without having done these things. Extra curricular activities at Elcho have truly enriched my
Attending the Sandra Cisneros reading was a very pivotal moment for me. The closer I get to graduation, the more I think about what Im going to do with my life. Her speech motivated me in so many ways.
I've always had an affinity towards the maths and sciences. To me, they make sense, but they also pique my interest. The innumerable amount of species in this world, yet even a fly's composition is so intricate and complex. The fact that we share DNA with bananas when there are virtually no physical similarities is appalling. I read that there is enough carbon in a human to produce graphite for 9,000 pencils. Science never ceases to amaze me. The complexity of life is completely beyond my grasp and that is why I intend to major in Biology. As for math- something about numbers soothes me and I ashamed to say I thoroughly enjoy doing my math homework.
Academics are very important to learn and it will help to build confidence and provide a foundation of work ethic that will carry over into future careers. I am very aware of my responsibilities of being a student and its work that come along with it. I am great at solving problems and that I think is why I enjoy math and science the most. In science and math classes there are clear problems that need factual answers. Problem solving is my strengths when it comes to academics. Also through sports and activities outside of school,
I am a very enthusiastic person and it is an academic goal to continue learning to show my enthusiasm at the right time and answer questions at the right time. I have an academic goal to continue to have good listening in class. Math is my favorite class and I have an academic goal to keep doing better and better in math. To continue to improve my grades from progressing to independent is a goal of mine. This year we have read a lot more books and I have really started to enjoy reading, I want this to
Most of the classes I took during the course of high school were to fulfill the requirements to graduate. As my junior year passed, I had most of the requirements filled. This year I decided to take more AP classes to help gain college credit and experience before heading to college in the fall. The AP classes I stuffed my schedule with were mostly math and science. Math and science are my forte, thus I wanted to take those classes. In addition to liking math and science, it fits well into the medical career I wish to possess later on in life. I am going to take anatomy, AP physics II and Ap calculus because I deduced that they would interest me and help prepare me for a future in medicine. Also, I will take AP government and AP US history
There are days where I look back and wonder how I got to where I’m at today. It seems like just yesterday that I was a 5 year old boy, having the time of his life. It is happening again today. When I was 5 years old, there was not much I had to worry about. My parents would give me shelter, food, money, and a phone. There’s always someone to play a good game of catch with. Looking back, there’s advice I’d give to my 5 year old self. To be a sharer: As a young boy, it seemed like my toys were my toys and no one could borrow them. This came out of an attitude of greed and put a lot of people off. When you share, you create connections with people. Be more focused on relationships: Good grades and perfect attendance were really important to me
