This forty percentage of time is spent by nurses giving their time, concentration, and excellent communication for their patient. Each medication must be checked and administered accurately yet promptly. It is very hard for a nurse in stress-fuelled wards to spend just one hour on this job as they can be constantly interrupted throughout the process. The world of pediatric nursing is something that is not fully appreciated until you get a first-hand look inside what it is really like to care for sick children who sometimes, unfortunately, do not always make it. Take oncology pediatric nurses for example. Their job is to care for and treat children with various forms of cancer, and besides the obvious, they also play a pivotal role in “optimizing the end of their patients’ life.” (Hildebrandt, p602) These individuals witness death on a day to day basis and they are trained to help a patients’ family deal with these losses, but they are on their own when it comes to how it affects them and how they are supposed to properly handle the situation.
This clinical experience has really helped me to sharpen my communication skills and realize just how important it is to understand mental health. We are told multiple times in class that mental health issues can be seen on any floor and that is the truth. I’ve seen patients in my older adult clinical on the pulmonary floor suffer from issues that range from anxiety to bipolar disorder and depression. Being able to understand how to approach people that suffer from these types of illnesses, allows us, the nurses, to give the patient the best care that we can. It helps to build a trusting relationship and get to know them on a personal level.
Investing my time in the care of my patient gives the opportunity to not only assist them in a difficult situation, but also to learn more about their diagnosis and the treatment, while comparing it to what we have learned in class. For example, I had a patient that suffered from Sickle Cell Disease and came to the ER during a crisis. Correlating this case to the books and the content learned in class, these patients receive at least 1000 mL of fluids, pain medication, and oxygen. Additionally, I had a patient with meningitis. This individual presented with common symptoms such as nuchal rigidity, muscle pain, fever, and chills.

Peer-to-Peer Mentorship for Academic Success in an LPN Program Problem Identification Beginning a nursing program can be an exceptionally stressful and anxiety producing experience. While the intention of nursing education is to prepare students to engage in the role of a professional nurse, the process of its completion is an arduous task. Students are often overwhelmed by the rigorous and fast-paced workload of the nursing curricula, as well as the day-to-day challenges of being a college student.

My personal perception of nursing is an occupation that requires lots of love, patience, empathy, care for others, dedication and skills. A nurse is the one that stays by his/her patients’ side as they are experiencing pain or even death. Nurses do more than bathing the patients or offering them pain medications. They are there to provide comfort and emotionally connect with their patients. When I was young, I was hospitalized for appendicitis.
.Library technicians are becoming extinct mainly because people are less likely to go to public libraries due to cellular devices. People use their cellular devices for access to internet they don’t even need wifi because of data usage. There are apps that people can download to access to read books.
