Much of her work consist of conducting home visits and doing case management. She is managing her own caseload. She also will appear in court on behalf of her clients. During the home visits, she meets with the clients and their children to discuss various issues, interventions, and goals. She conducts client transports and supervised visits for other social workers.
The human services professionals’ duties besides helping clients with their needs, they would be in charge of planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, fundraising and community outreach. “Through case management, human services workers help those in need negotiate the complicated systems designed to deliver legal, medical, and social services and help them obtain services in an appropriate and timely manner (Burger, 2017).The social worker would help the clients by building a supportive net from families, friends and connect individuals to the proper services for follow-ups. The volunteers would help the organization tremendously by offering time and services to an array of clients to help them with different skills and educational
I have a passion for our ageing community and I feel compelled to support them in their endeavor to live enriched lives. I understand that medical social workers coordinate care for individuals who need a number of medical and personal services at different levels. They also assist them in applying for much needed services and dealing with problems as they arise. The job of a medical social worker is important to the improvement of the quality of life for families and patients who are hurdling the difficulties of everyday life. As a medical social worker I hope to use my knowledge and knack for caring to aid the coping process for those families and ease the transition for patients.
The primary function of the social worker is to “provide the patient/ family with information and referrals to appropriate community resources as well as serves (sic) as an advocate on their behalf when accessing additional services that they may need.” (Kindred, 2016) Additionally, the social worker assists with psychosocial aspects of care and provides in-service training for hospice volunteers. Social workers have several responsibilities. They have to provide service, justice, and dignity to a client. They have to possess integrity, competence, and patience. Social workers need to possess knowledge of human rights, and how to perform scientific inquiry. Social workers occasionally have cases in which problems ensue and a solution is not found within a certain time frame.
At this facility the social worker spends most of their time with the patients, which is different than I had previously assumed. In previous IPE classes when we have learned about the role of the social worker, it was portrayed as a behind the scenes job. They described the social worker as spending time with the patient, and filling out paperwork for insurance companies. At Nazareth, they have designated staff that are in charge of evaluations and assessments. These individuals complete pre and post assessments, along with submitting the paperwork to Medicare or Medicaid.
1) Explain the role of a support worker in the health and social care profession. A support worker is someone who provides support to individuals and families who are in need of help practically and motinally. Support workers help people who have mental health problems as well as disabilities and learning difficulties. The main aim of a support worker id to basically help clients to learn to live as independently as possible by identifying and helping residents in their particular areas of need.
Being a social worker is often a challenging, yet rewarding career. Social workers are responsible for helping individuals, families, and groups of people to cope with problems they’re facing to improve their patients’ lives. Social workers are also trained caseworkers in social service agencies who perform several functions which they use different components of the practice framework, the theoretical underpinnings to in order to build helping relationships. After interviewing a caseworker in a specific social agency there were advantages and disadvantages of methods along with challenges encountered in working in that specific agency. With all of this the functions, roles and responsibilities of a caseworker is what helps any agency to uphold

Social workers promote clients ' socially responsible self-determination. Social workers seek to enhance clients ' capacity and opportunity to change and to address their own needs. Social workers are cognizant of their dual responsibility to clients and to the broader society. They seek to resolve conflicts between clients ' interests and the broader society 's interests in a socially responsible manner consistent with the values, ethical principles, and ethical standards of the profession (National Association of Social Worker) (2018).
In social care, we work with some of society’s most vulnerable people. For a practitioner to best support an individual they must first be able to care for themselves. There is huge value in being aware of who we are, our strengths and our areas for improvement. This can directly affect the relationships and experiences we have with ourselves, clients, and our peers in social care practice. For this assignment, I will look at the importance of ‘the self’ and personal and professional development in social care.
