Becoming a homicide detective takes time. The minimum education requirement is at least a bachelor’s degree. Criminal justice is the recommended career field. After you meet the education requirements you must go through a police academy or other training institution before you are eligible to work. Your personality is very important as well. They want honest people with integrity working for them. Experience in law enforcement is ideal.
