I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study. When I was working as a non-certified student athletic trainer I took the athletes to the Physical Therapist and I was allowed in by the student to watch the evaluation. At this time I realized that I was so interested in this field and I knew that I may have found a career. …show more content…
However, I want to do more I want to be able to follow the process from beginning to end and do the evaluations. I want to be able to do the testing and the measuring. I have set out on this journey of health care because I want to help people go from post-operative to back to fully functioning with realistic goals in place. I want to be able to walk the journey with the patients and let them know that they are not on it alone. Through Physical Therapy I feel that patients get more than just rehabilitation of an injury or surgery but they get a change in mindset from injured to functioning independently again as they did before. I want to be a bigger part of that
This week I observed Ben Randall who is the assistant athletic trainer for football. He has been an athletic trainer for three years and has been with UMaine football for all of those three years. He attended the University of Southern Maine for his undergraduate degree and he is currently pursing a graduate degree at the California University of Pennsylvania. His words of wisdom were to love the job and be ready to work. He also said that if you didn’t love the job you wouldn’t want to do the work.
After extensive research, I decided on that job being a Physical Therapist Assistant. A Physical Therapist Assistant is one job that I feel is often looked over by many. It is a crucial job in the health-field, and one that plays a pivotal role in assuring successful therapeutic rehabilitation of a patient in need. Witnessing one being able to walk with my assistance through therapy after a surgery, or seeing a child being able to play a sport again after therapy would be truly extraordinary.

The Physical Therapist Assistant is an amazing career I will like to go in because I’ll be helping everyone. I have the skill sets to become a great one because I hate seeing people sad and injure, and I’m ambitions on what I’m doing. The job offers great pay, benefits, job opportunities, and can move up to physical therapist. I’m already working for the Miami Heat and one day I will like to work for the basketball team. I love basketball, so working for the basketball team will be a great fit for me and a life time goal.
Broken bones or raging fevers,The two jobs that I chose to further gain knowledge of is a physician assistant and a physical therapist. As I was doing my research I wanted to see the extent of requirements that each occupation requires while seeing overall which job sounds more appealing to me. As of right now I am leading towards the physician assistant job as I have always been interested more of the prescription medicine side of things. In the future I have to decide whether or not I want to more personally in to the range of motions of people who have been injured, or look in to a more personal connection with the medicine side of things.

Throughout my whole college experience, I want to work as hard as I can and as much as I can, to achieve an overall great life for myself and my future family. That being said, my career path that I have chosen is, to become a Physical therapist assistant.
Beatty, I have pursued relevant experience to prepare me for this career path. I can truly say that I will be successful in helping others with their conditions and continually learn from my mistakes along the process. This was all I needed to erase doubt, satisfy my desire and keep my mind focused on proceeding in my career
Providing the catalyst, in my dream of becoming a physical therapist, the rehabilitative services I received for my injury, strengthened my resolve to provide the same quality services to others. After completing my rehabilitation I received an offer for employment as a physical therapy assistant. Working as a physical therapy assistant enabled me the opportunity through hands on training and observation to experience the world of a physical therapist and solidify my ambition to pursue a degree in the field of physical
Working towards a kinesiology major as an undergraduate student I will obtain a B.A. in kinesiology. After completion, I will head off to graduate school with the goal of earning a doctoral degree in physical therapy. Then I will proceed and take the National Physical Therapy Examination. By doing this,
Long days of listening, talking, hands-on activities, and lots of paperwork are just a few of the many similarities shared by both physical therapists and athletic trainers. Physical therapist take people with physical disabilities and injuries and help them achieve their highest level of physical activity, while an athletic trainer teaches people how to do exercises the correct way. After completing the Career Inventory test, two careers recommended for me were that of a physical therapist and an athletic trainer. Physical therapist and athletic trainers have similarities in working conditions, skills needed, and education, yet they have differences in job outlook, salary, and job description. Physical therapist and athletic trainer have many similarities between them.
I want to be part of such a rewarding career. I feel that the subjects I have studied have provided me with a good foundation of skills and knowledge that I will use on a daily basis as Occupational therapist. In Biology I learned about the human body on a physical level. I found learning how the body works to be fascinating and I look forward to expanding my knowledge even more with this course.
Working full time for the past two years, I have had experience being both a physical therapist aide/technician and even an assistant. I have completed observation hours at Gentilly Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, where I was a technician to a couple physical therapy assistants and physical therapists. At Gentilly rehabilitation center, I understood the nature of the work by assisting patients through weight training, teaching them the proper way to move around and assisted with recording the progress of each treatment. While observing patients under a physical therapist's supervision, I also had the responsibility of supervising lower level technicians during my support duties. Then the following year I observed at PhysioFit; I had a chance to
I became interested in physical therapy very recently, last week exactly. I became interested in physical therapy when I was researching it in class for a lame project my annoying teacher made me do. Although my dad and all but one of his brothers are in the medical field, I didn’t really know too many details about working in the medical field. I always thought it was just too much school and didn’t give enough down time. However, after researching it I became more interested because it is a very intermediate job in the medical field.
Throughout the years I have juggled many different career options, and I have finally set on one that I know is for me. I plan on pursuing a career in Physical Therapy, this will include attending USI for three years of undergrad, and then transferring to a graduate studies for my remaining 3 years of schooling. I have already been accepted into the University of Southern Indiana, and I will be starting there next fall. When it came to choosing what I wanted to do for the rest of my life I spent a lot of time having absolutely no idea, then my life got turned upside down. I tore my ACL, and needed a surgery right away.
