She just moved to mica(the setting this book takes place in)and she is going to mica high school, and everyone can tell she is an odd one out. At first it didn’t bother them much because they were to wound up thinking
In the novel, Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton, Stacey LaVoie, one of the characters may seem like a minor character, but she is very important to the story. I think that she demonstrates the following character traits; I think that she is carefree, and I think that she is friendly. You will find out why I think that way while reading my essay. Firstly, I think that Stacey is carefree.

How does Stargirl show conformity in/to the school? Stargirl doesnt show any kind of conformity at all in the school because she will always get up during lunch and sing people Happy Birthday to them even though they dont want to be sang too. Stargirl would bring a pet rat to school every day even though that pets were not allowed in the school. Stargirl would ask the most randomest questions in class and usually they never had anything to do
Her happy wagon proves that she was happier being herself. If she would have stayed true to herself, she could have been happy at Mica Area High. Stargirl thought she needed to change to be happy, but she didn’t need
Hillari doesn’t like how Stargirl seems to be taking over the whole school because she wants it to be her school, not Stargirl’s
She cheers for the other team, sings happy birthday to students during lunch with her ukelele, and does nice things for others. The people of Mica were so offended by Stargirl because she cared about everyone. The people of Mica were so offended by Stargirl’s caring attitude because she cheered for other school basketball teams, she did kind things for others, and
Stargirl, a novel by Jerry Spinelli, is a remarkable book that I could not put down. The author does a marvelous job of keeping the story interesting and entertaining to read by adding unexpected twists to the story, like when Stargirl became normal and then changed back to Stargirl again. While I was reading, I felt like I was in the story, like I was a student at Mica High School in Arizona. This is all thanks to the author’s stunning descriptions that included figurative language and superior word choice, like on page 85 when the author wrote, “In school I was a yellow balloon, smiling and lazy, floating above the classrooms.” This novel is not like anything I have ever read before.
When short stories are written they can be realistic, nonrealistic, scary, fantasy, etc. Some of the more realistic stories have the plot grow from the characters, meaning that the story unfolds and makes sense because of a character's personality. However there are stories that are set in a realistic time or place, but the story itself is less likely to happen in real life based on the behavior and personality of the characters, and appears to happen only by chance or coincidence. The short stories, "The Man Who Knew Belle Starr", by Richard Bausch and "A Good Man is Hard to Find", by Flannery O'Connor, follow fatal moments in their character's lives.
Do you believe women can do things just as easily as men can? In the novel, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, Charlotte Doyle becomes part of the crew on the ship, the Seahawk. For starters, Charlotte is very brave, she climbed the Royal Yard just to become part of the crew. She is also tough, her knife throwing skills are incredible! Additionally, Charlotte is a hard worker.
"Character is what you are in the dark." -Dwight Lyman Moody. I believe that this quote is saying that when everyone is looking at a character or the attention is on them it’s easy to be the heroic good guy, but it takes real strength to do the right thing when no one is looking, even if the right thing to do isn’t easy or sometimes safe. For the story and character, I’m using in this essay, I am going to have to say I disagree with the quote.
Leo pressures Stargirl to be like a “typical” girl at Mica High, not thinking about how Stargirl feels and how she will always try to be herself, even if she is “normal” for a little bit. When Stargirls reveals that she will always be herself and not Susan, she becomes her quirky and bizarre self. One quote from Leo is, “As she (Stargirl when she becomes herslef again) had predicted, I did not ask her to the Ocotillo Ball” (167). This tells that Leo is so self-conscious and he wants to fit very badly that he won’t ask his own girlfriend to the dance because she’s being herself and different. Leo and people at Mica High and in the real world want to be accepted and “standard” by the
In the novel Ordinary People by Judith Guest, Beth Jarret may come across as the antagonist. She has a side to her that makes the reader want to dislike her, but as the story unfolds the reader then gets a deeper understanding. Beth’s reactions to situations could have maybe been better, but every person handles tragic events in different ways. Her cold shell hides the fact that events from the past scare her into feeling like an outcast. Any reader could tell that Beth’s character was strong, maybe cold, but definity strong.
I rated Stargirl frequently demonstrated for Individual, which means she decides for herself, because she doesn’t let what other people say bother her. For example, everyone was being mean to her and treating her badly but she decides for herself to not let it bug her. At the Hot Seat everyone was attacking her with questions. Like “Why are you so different?
Kierrah Edwards ENGL 201 9/20/15 Character Analysis: Emily Grierson The short story “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner depicts how seclusion can certainly impact one’s life. Throughout the story, Emily gives off this “insane” impression. However, after fully reading the story, the reader can fully understand why Emily was the way she was. Emily Grierson was a very dependent person.
The character, Stargirl, reminds me of one of my friends because she does not do everything based off other people’s opinions of her. The main character faces a situation of confusion by not being able
