According to the language, people can clearly understand where are they come from, and you can also find the sense of belongings. The language can connect a lot of memories in the childhood about mother tongue and the environment of living. The complicated living environment always can bring diverse feelings and memories. Similar to the Hijuelos, the author of “Mother Tongue” Amy Tan thinks that her mother’s English is limited and broken, but English is an only tool for them to communicate. A series of experiences and events about English. The memories in the childhood maybe are very unforgettable and beautiful. Someone speak Spanish, and others can also speak English. This phenomenon affects Hijuelos can speak English and Spanish. After all, the Spanish is mother’s tongue, Hijuelos can hear that all day. Perhaps in the mind of Hijuelos, the Spanish and family are very important for him, and he just temporary lost them. To be honest, these things always be existed in his heart, and these are unforgettable. Perhaps these memories were very great for Hijuelos and the Hijuelos wanted to cherish this beautiful moments with family. Maybe this experience at the hospital is a longest time with him parents. He mentioned these things that he wants to show his relation with mother and mother tongue is important for him to speak Spanish. Hijuelos recalled the connection between language and home, and he understands all of them are very inevitable in his life.
