My day trip in the mountains almost took a turn for the worst. Our trip was nothing but normal. To start with, we had planned this trip for weeks, as we don’t get to take these rides as often as we used to. There was nothing unusual about this trip, we had taken the exact one three times before, it was supposed to be a short day trip up to a modest town called Crown King. If all went well, we would take our brand new UTV, and go offroading through the twisty mountain turns. Hopefully, we would arrive in town around noon, eat lunch at the only restaurant in the entire town, and spend the rest of our day travelling back to make it home before dinner. This turned out to not be the case. My personal life lesson is to always expect the best, but be prepared for the worst. To begin with, our journey begins with taking a nice day trip through the mountainside. Our trip starts out as any other, we wake up as early as humanly possible, throw as many things together as quickly as we can to get out the door, and meet our friends we will be riding with at the gas station in town. Then we take the two hour drive to get to the rest area where we can unload our things and begin off-roading. One thing we never consider with our trips is that we always end up in some …show more content…
We arrived in town around eleven and quickly realized that everywhere had shut down, so we called around to little cabins and inns to see if any would be open for us to sleep for the night. After many attempts at finding a place to stay, we finally received an answer and we found a small little cabin for us all to stay in. The cabin was supposed to only house four people, but we managed to somehow fit all nine of us. The cabin lady was nice enough to give us what little food she had as she realized that we had just gotten into town. I ate my can of cold chili and dozed off for the night. Thus, everyone learned a valuable lesson that night, never show up
Grace and I were breathing in her sweater and rolled all the windows down and the top roof window. Anyway…. We got the gas, life vest, the cooler, and most important thing of all the ………... FOOD. When we got everything from the car to take to the boat there was a surprise for us.
In December, my family and I went skiing in Colorado. We like to go see our family, and participate in winter sports. Our two favorite sports are tubing and skiing. When we arrived at Colorado there were ten inches of snow on the ground. We had a choice to go back to my grandparent’s house or go tubing and then go back.
“We wanted to turn it into a road trip so we bought a trailer and we stopped at lots of national parks and other
On the way, we all resolved to make a pit-stop by McDonald 's to get some breakfast. Our on selves stayed approximately an hour seeing that I pleaded my family to get back onto the road on behalf of my patience escalating very slim.
Off to Tahoe One day when I was visiting Tahoe my mom called a family meeting and she said we were all as a family going to move to Incline Village. I started crying on the inside but on the outside I was showing much exitement. I felt really sad but I didn’t want to disappoint my mom so I never told her.
As usual, I get into the Vermeer’s car with Aftyn. The drive to the trails is always fun and beautiful. After about a twenty minute car ride, we got to the Rough Lock Falls parking lot to unload our snowmobiles. When everything is unloaded and everyone is bundled up, we’re off.
The week I spent in Estes Park, Colorado, brought me closer to seven people who I never even dreamt of being good friends with. Naturally, the best part of any vacation is the road trip. Mariah Machart, Jackie Thompson, and I left Culbertson and comfortably rode in Mariah’s dark blue Chevy Silverado. Our next
Once again, after we were done for the done for the day we loaded the busses back up and headed to our final destination of the trip, Nashville,
This story takes place last summer in the month of July, about one week. My family and I went on a trip out west. Our final destination was in South Dakota. We left on a monday morning and I remember my mom was trying to get me up and they almost left without me. Everyone packed their bags in the car but when I was about to put mine in the car I was informed that there was no more room and it had to get tied to the roof.
Many families lost members due to infections and disease. I wanted quite so we left during a slow day giving us space on the trail. Our experience on the trail was harsh, the weather was bad, our wagons needed a lot repairs and my son Joseph got cholera almost dying. This delayed our trip by months then years.
It was a cool day in the Poconos Mountains, we had made a reservation to go white water rafting. The next morning we had to wake up extra early to eat breakfast so we weren’t late for our trip. When my parents said, “were going white water rafting” I thought we were going straight down to the river , but of course it wasn’t. When we got there we each had to fill out papers clearly stating our medical information but, of course my parents had to sign too. Once everything had been signed we had to wait about thirty minutes for everyone else to get there.
First off, we commenced our long trip with a very long drive. The drive was twenty hours, which is forty hours total if you include the drive back. Unfortunately, I tend to get very nauseous on road trips, so as you can imagine that was not the way I wanted to start off the trip. Although, we did go through Kentucky, so we stopped by the Kentucky Derby Museum. This was five years ago, so I don’t really remember this very well.
Ever since I acquired my first bysicle at the age of six, I was certain that biking would forever be my favorite pastime. I felt like I could go on my bike for an eternity and never become fatigued. If I were to ever get lost, my supreme navigational skills would place me back on the right track, or so I thought. My belief was soon to be challenged Fresh out of my junior year of high school, summer was in full swing. Only having my phone and a bottle of water, I hit the streets.
After we packed up all our stuff my dad said” Everyone go to bed, so we can wake up fresh in the morning and get the trip started”. So, we all went to bed. I can barely sleep thinking about all the fun were going to have. After about 15 minutes everyone was sound asleep and so was I.
“The journey will never go as expected, life is going to throw in some curve balls and wait to see what happens.” This is the central message to the story that my father tells several times a year anytime we are about to go on a trip. The story all begins with my Pawpaw John. Pawpaw John was a very loved and lighthearted man who was an avid outdoorsman. He grew up poor, so he was a handy man out of necessity.
