There are several factors why children are selected to be in combat zones instead of the playgrounds, ranging from vulnerability reasons to economic conditions. First, children are the most favorable source since they are easier to manipulate and intimidate due to the lack of their reasoning. An article from the Gale Student Resources in Context database, “Child Soldiers” states since “children’s brains and emotions are immature, children are easy to recruit, indoctrinate, and coerce.” In other words their vulnerability and inability to understand eases their recruitment because they will do as they are told to please their commanders. Since a child’s brain is known for its ability to absorb what is projected to learn, therefore they quickly submit to the intimating actions they are pressured to preform because they fear the punishment superiors uphold when soldiers do not obey. Also, children are economical to wage a war since they not demand salaries like adult soldiers and cost less to maintain because they eat less.
.Atlantic Slave Trade: Supported Opinion Paper Slavery has been evident from very the early stages of life, from the ancient times, to today in which illegal manners still take place. However, during the 16th to the 19th century, millions of Africans were captured, beaten, tortured and killed due to the major demand in the need for labour while Europeans decided to settle into the new world. The captains of the transporting ships have a major role in supporting the slavery business, while proving their fault and immense guilt throughout the many accounts and statements made by witnesses and slaves themselves. Among the motivation of slaves to run away were, “violent punishment, separation from family, and fears of being sold.” It was not uncommon for slave owners to separate families if it meant that they would acquire greater wealth by selling certain slaves. Most slaves protested these actions using passive resistance such as breaking tools, however others chose to face the danger of running away if it meant getting away from cruel masters, labor, or an uncertain future. Of all the runaway slaves, most were male, “between 1804 and 1828, for example, the Richmond Enquirer advertised 1,253 runaway slaves. Of the slaves advertised by owners and employers, 1,054, or 84.1%, were males; 174, or 13.9%, were females; and 25, or 2%, were children.” The reason behind there being more male slave runaways then females was due to the danger of running away, they had to be capable of
For example, the Massachusetts newspapers have been printing slave advertisements since 1704, and almost every article in The Boston-Gazette and Country Journal and The Boston Evening-Post were advertisements of runaways or who were selling slaves that day. These things were very common, and the newspapers would make a lot of money through these advertisements. Honestly, they newspapers made so much from slave trade, that they were in competition with one another to see who got the most ads. The point being made is that the entire country was selling and reselling slaves like horses until the next shipment came in. This practice had brainwashed society into thinking that was how it was and allowed slave trade to become the multi-billion business that controlled the economy of Massachusetts and many other colonies in that time as well.
Once they are brought to their interim or final destinations, though, it is force, threat of force, or harm that keeps them prisoners and enslaved. It is at this point within the trafficking process that victims differ little from the seventeenth and eighteenth-century African slaves who were kidnapped, bought, and sold into slavery and servitude. Unlike traditional slaves of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, trafficking victims are often hidden in plain sight. They, too, however, are openly bought and sold, some in cattle markets or like foreign women sold in auctions to sex traffickers. Others are bought and sold through hidden means, such as through the internet, as models, escorts, and brides .
