“Holy sh*t…That’s a huge whale.” Under the brilliant blue sky, looking down from the fluffy clouds, an ocean lied there. Deeper than the caves, larger than the Earth itself. Filled with wildlife of many different species, this was a heavenly place! There, in between all the water, and the crashing waves, one could see a boat just floating there calmly. *Wuuuuoooooooo* On that little boat, a young boy with an oddly casual looking outfit, stood there with his mouth open and his eyes blank as he stared at the madness before him. His hand not letting go of the paddle, he slowly paddled the boat backwards. *Wuuuuuooooooo* “…I’m out.” And before that young boy, stood a giant whale, much bigger than any whale he had ever seen, except for those …show more content…
*…WuuuoooooOoOOOOOOOO!!* “…Sh*t.” ……………… In the wide reaches of space, the empty void that houses the stars and planets, there existed one solar system, standing in the much larger Milky Way Galaxy. Inside that solar system, is a small blue and green planet, happily orbiting around it’s sun. Looking much closer, the planet widened, and the land and the seas of the planet became clear to the naked eye. Hovering above, was a large moon that looked like it was going to crash onto Earth like it had a bad day at work. Poor guy, it’s morning though. On the far left side of the world, there was a large continent, housing some of the most richest and most prosperous countries of the world. Let’s take a look at Canada, shall we? And here, is where our story starts! Too long of an explanation? In the city of North Vancouver, a school was going along its usual activities under the raging sun above. It was very hot that day, okay? Even with the cold …show more content…
A couple weeks ago, because he was suffering a severe case of utter boredom, he decided to try and draw something he had never drawn before. With his pencil and pen ready, he brought out his drawing book and started experimenting. The picture he drew was based on a fantasy novel he read a long time ago. It told a story about a young boy, who was chosen to defeat the evil ‘Demon King’, set out for his journey and blah, blah, blah. Long story short, the demon king is defeated, world is saved, story over! But there was always one scene that he had taken a deep liking to. And that, was the first encounter between the protagonist, and the ‘Demon King’ himself. Locked in a deadly stare, their eyes transfixed on each other as they found the one thing left in their way! He wasn’t sure why, but that moment intrigued his small little brain back in the day. Looking at it now, it wasn’t the most interesting story, or the most unique, but the way the writer describes the world was amazing, in his opinion anyways. The words were fluid, the world felt vibrant, and the things the heroes go through were at least
INTRO While invoking a somewhat contentious relationship with the Federal and Quebec government, Quebec nationalism has shaped the dynamics of Canadian politics. Through a discussion of several historical events, Canadian politics have been influenced by Quebec nationalism. In this paper, I will argue how various significant changes to the constitution, the restructure of the Federal government from centralized to decentralized, and influencing policies that ultimately made Quebec a distinct society in Quebec. TOPIC 1 Since Canada is a federal state, the constitution assigns separate jurisdictions to the Federal Government and to the 10 provinces. These provincial governments have constitutionally recognized authority to enact laws in their
He explains that people would look at this sky all the time, and that's how the realized something interesting happened, such as the star. He said that Jupiter passed Venus, and when the biggest star and brightest star passed over each other, it was the brightest star in the universe. When this happened and people looked at the sky, this became The Star of
Canada experienced rapid growth and development during the period from 1864 to 1939. With humble beginnings as a cluster of small British colonies, Canada eventually emerged as a strong, developed nation. However, this evolution from colony to nation did not happen instantaneously. Rather, it occurred due to a series of challenges and changes influenced by a myriad of major dynamic forces. In particular, the dynamic forces of protectionism, expansionism, and regionalism contributed greatly to the early makings of Canadian nationhood.
Canada is a nation known for the multicultural population. It is seen as an attractive destination for the great social policies adopted by the charismatic leaders the country was able to create. Since the 1800’s, Canada’s immigration laws were severely restricted to non-whites, nevertheless, the country has now evolved to encompass all ethnicities equally. Canada’s identity, especially since the 1950’s and onwards, experienced rapid growth and change. This can be seen through the following examples: Immigration, Pierre Trudeau and the F.L.Q crisis.
In the 20th century it was apparent that huge changes occurred in the world. In Canada, there were many ups and downs that contributed to how the present was shaped. Both of the world wars were terrible, but fate had brought these battles to diminish the economically poor times. After the second World War, Canada’s identity was shaping into the one we see today. The war changed Canada in various aspects, such as how Canada was part of a cause to support other countries in need of help, how the economy was advancing, and Canada’s part in peacekeeping missions across the world.
I watched as the big fiery ball climbed above everything else. It shot out orangish-red rays from all direction and made the town brighter. As lovely as the morning was I knew that today wouldn't be horrible. I could only watch from down here, the beautiful shining star.
The sun was scorching out heat as it was warming up the city. On the other side the ocean was all admirable dark blue. Waves were shattering surfers. But there was something special in the ocean.
Today, with the Liberal Party of Quebec’s new leader, Philippe Couillard, showing his intentions to finally sign the Constitution, the relationship between Canada and Quebec has never been better. However, this relationship did not just seemingly appear out of nowhere; rather, Canada and Quebec have had their fair share of disagreements. These quarrels helped to shape their relationship into what it is now. Ultimately, most of these disagreements were caused by the differing views on the education system and the French Canadians, the importance of the English and French language, and the provincial status of Quebec.
Canada is a strong country backed up by even stronger people. The fact that it surpassed the U.S.A, which was considered the 4th best country to live in, shows how much potential this country has with its extraordinary health care services and its fundamental freedoms. It also shows how Canada puts its citizens first above everything else and realizes that it is not perfect, and thus strives to improve its nature, relationships, and lifestyles with
Passengers scrambled back to rooms for life jackets. Then, a second explosion shook the ship, believed to be a steam pressure drop. With the ship moving at 18 knots the water flooding in caused the bow to sink and the stern to lift, and a list towards the starboard, as a result of the empty coal bunker filling up. The men in the forward baggage holds, where the torpedo hit, were all killed or trapped, and they knew how to launch a life boat. The deck was in chaos, the starboard boats were too far for a person to get in them off the deck and the port ones were not over the water.
Spiegelman with his brilliant usage of vivid imagery that portrayed the actual actions and phenomena of his and his peers including his father in a graphic way was absolutely fantastic. With the use of non-human imagery, the audience were still made to see capture a mental understanding of the descriptive words that were supported by the imagery that accompanied them page by page. He said quote ‘It was during summer I think I was ten or eleven”, and this quotation was vividly supported by the imagery presented on page 4 where the inhuman creatures were smaller than they are in other pictures, this is to depict to us that was very young during those skating time. The audience were able to clearly see and mentally understand fully as a result
In the short story Rogue Wave, written by Theo Taylor, a fourteen year old girl named Melissa “Scoot” Atkins ventured out on the Old Sea Dog for her very first offshore sailing trip. Her brother Sullivan “Sully” Atkins had borrowed a sailboat from Beau Tucker, and the two young sailors were enjoying a sunny, peaceful day in the ocean. Suddenly, a violent rogue wave overturned their sailboat like a cork, Poor Scoot was all alone in the galley at the time, and she was knocked out by the hitting the ceiling. Sully tried to wake her by tapping on the hull, yet he was unsuccessful. After tapping for 30 minutes, Scoot awoke in the dark.
As they enter a wild, unprotected, and unsupervised environment, the young survivors fall victim to their own emotions. They show their insecurities through the idea of a “beast” which “a shrimp of a boy, about six years old,” brought to light in a meeting (47). Throughout the text the topic of the beast continues to hunt them causing the reader to decipher it represents more than a physical matter. William Golding uses the “beast” to demonstrate the fear that creeps in the mind of the boys affecting them differently as they journey through this adventure.
The ocean looked like an enormous pool of wonder. It was exceptionally blue that day with a slight green undertone. The surface looked as though it was covered with millions of diamonds crashing with the waves and kissing the sand. I remember the sand in between my feet, like standing on a coarse cloud that I could just seep into. The water teasing my toes and running back into hiding.
