Irony in “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” is evident everywhere. Throughout this short story the grandmother is involved in a lot of the irony. In the beginning the grandmother was trying to convince her son and his family to go to east Tennessee instead of Florida, and yet the next morning she was the first person to be in the car and ready to go. For the road trip, the grandmother dressed very nice. She wore her navy blue dress with collars the shade of white organdy, and her collars and cuffs were trimmed with lace. She decided to dress this way so that if her and her family were in an accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once she was a lady.
