“ A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”-Joseph Campbell. Heroes strive to make a difference in at least one person’s life. Heroes face many challenges, but don’t let them overcome them; they are brave, however, heroes aren’t always in tights. They are ordinary people putting forth the effort to help.
Hero’s face challenges but don’t let it overcome them. For example, in the article Soldier home after losing his leg in Afghanistan, Lake Stevens lost his leg in the army but never let that challenge overcome him, he pushed through and did everything as if he still had two legs. He said, “ Of course, the loss of a leg changed me, but it doesn’t define me for the rest of my life.” This showing that even some of the biggest things can’t bring someone down. Also, Christopher Reeve said, “ A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserve and endure in overwhelming obstacles.” Which shows that any normal person can show and be a hero, it is about the strength and willingness to help others. Bob Riley once said, “ Hard times

Like, when Alan Hall saved a girl from a super strong riptide. Alan Hall pushed a girl out of the way so that a powerful riptide wouldn’t kill her but as doing so it lead to his death. He did it anyway to save the girl’s life no matter what happened to his. For another example, the Sandy Hook school shooting. Many teachers tried to protect their students and ended up getting killed and also many students but the fact is the teachers’ gave their life up for the kids and did whatever they could to save them. From the movie mulan, Chi-Fu said, “ You stole your father’s armour, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, deceived your commanding officer, destroyed our army, destroyed my palace, you have saved us all,” this shows that even after everything she did like risking her life and destroying things, she saved
No matter who someone's hero is one thing stays the same. A hero is someone that has strived to help out of their own will. Anyone could be a hero. However not everyone is a hero. Being a hero takes courage.
When asked to describe a hero, Mickey Mantle, famous baseball player for the New York Yankees, Said “Heroes are people who are all good with no bad in them” This quote shows that a hero is someone who always does the right thing and has good intentions. What a hero should look like now is someone who is loyal and brave. In Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, Odysseus proves that he is a hero when he went to save his men on “Circe’s Island.” and defeated the cyclops in “The Cave of the Cyclops.”
"A hero is someone who does something for others. He does something that other men don’t and cant to. He is different from other men. He is above other men. No matter who those other men are, the hero, no matter who he is, is above them.
Heroism Paper Angela Steele Atlantic Cape Community College Technical Communication Professor Barbieri December 5, 2015 Heroism Paper Would most people put their lives at risk to save others or even those they had never met? According to Campbell (“The Hero’s Adventure https://www.youtube.com”) a hero is someone who has given his/her life to something bigger than himself or other than himself. Someone who has found, achieve or done something beyond the normal range of achievement or experience. This person possesses courage and has the ability to contain and overcome their fears. They are dedicated and focused on the outcome and achievements of the task at hand.
One example of this would be Mulan. Mulan dressed as a boy and went to serve in the Chinese army even though it was illegal. She put herself in danger to help her injured father, even though she knew there was serious consequences if she were to get caught. Frederick Douglas is another person who did extraordinary things, specifically after he escaped from slavery.
A hero is someone who puts the needs of others before their own and works towards a greater
A famous actor Christopher Reeve once said, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserve and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Being heroic does not always mean you’re special or well known. Since a hero shows determination, it drives them to help others and go beyond what’s expected of them. Heroes are people who go beyond expectations.
A man named Christopher Reeve once said, “I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles”. As Reeve said, any ordinary person can become a hero when they withstand both the mental and physical challenges of life. Unlike what most believe, heroes aren’t always the people you read about in comics who wear capes and have unrealistic superpowers, but are those who go beyond the ordinary and become the extraordinary. Heroism can be found in your average person who is willing to do what’s right when others won’t and are those who stay devoted to the task at hand, however they don’t give up when things get tough. Going beyond the call of duty and what’s expected, to do what’s
American actor Christopher Reeve once quoted, "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles" (Brainy Quote). Not only did he play a hero as Superman, he truly became one in his personal life. After becoming a quadriplegic Reeve became a spokesperson for people with spinal cord injuries. A hero is a person one admires because of the qualities and selfless actions they exemplify to overcome adversity and inspire others. Heroism is apparent in literature, history, and in our own life.
A hero is someone who displays exceptional traits such as courage, nobility, and selflessness, especially in the face of adversity. They inspire us with their actions and give us hope during difficult times. Heroes can be found in history books, literature, films, and even in our lives. Whether they become known or remain anonymous, heroes remind us of the best parts of humanity and the capacity for good that exists in each of us. All of these traits remind me of two people, Odysseus, and my grandpa.
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of their strength, but by the strength of their heart.” A hero is a person that does something to help or they can also save someone 's life. One example of, being a hero is Darry because he takes care of Ponyboy and Sodapop. Another example, of being a hero is Johnny when he saved Ponyboy and the little kids. A further example, of being a hero is Ponyboy when he also saved the little kid’s life and when he wanted to take the blame for killing Bob.
Heroes in our society are revered and respected as Joseph Campbell reminds us: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Joseph Campbell). Heroes exist in all societies and throughout history. Maybe they are not always on the news or from the movies, but their words and their actions never fail to resonate across their feats. A hero gives of himself and dedicates himself to causes which better others and their society unlike individuals who are self serving, greedy, and cruel.
Hero “Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary (Geraid Way).” A person who walks beside you on the sidewalk or smiles at you when you pass by them could be the hero that saves you when danger is present. A hero is an ordinary person who has extraordinary traits of acting quickly in a difficult situation, being determined to help any citizen in need and always steps up to help even if it means possibly getting injured. Heroes are people who will respond without hesitation when danger is upon them.
Scott LaBarge’s essay “Heroes: Why Heroes are Important” is well written because he effectively uses pathos, logos, and karios when explaining heroes to his audience. When something goes wrong or we feel like we cannot continue, we could all use someone to step in and change our situation. Everyone needs a hero. LaBarge gives an excellent example from his high school days; Thoreau inspired him and became his hero. The high school period of one’s life is a difficult period.
Either it be physically or emotionally. The hero in your life may be someone who you love and trust and know will always be there for you in a time of need. A hero supports you, and assures you safety. The American heroes, or our soldiers, are great examples. They fight for not only our freedom, but for freedom and protection for their loved ones.
