A Long Walk To Water is a historical fiction written by Linda Sue Park. This novel is about Nya, and Salva, two Southern Sudanese kids. Nya, who needs to walk a long distance to get water for herself and family, and Salva, who is a Sudanese Lost Boy escaping his war torn country. Both stories are set in the same place, just at different times. The best strategy for a person to use to overcome difficult circumstances is to have hope. Giving up and not having hope will bring you more sadness than happiness. The author states on page 72, “He felt as though he were standing on the edge of a giant hole—a hole filled with the black despair of nothingness. I am alone now.
