2 Questions of “Brownies” 1. In the short story, “Brownies,” I would describe the narrator, whose name is Laurel, as a shy and timid girl, questioning the way people act. Most of the girls in her group do not take a liking to her, for she says, “[They] already decided their course of action, me being the only impediment” (Packer 847). Moreover, the narrator is very smart because she is skeptical, for she is the only one who questions the girls if they, in fact, heard troop 909 call one of the girls a nigger.

Lemon and Greg meet in an abandoned house attempting to get out of the rain, but when thugs come to rob Lemon of his “treasures” Greg becomes scared and Lemon protects him by hurting the thugs and in the process puts himself in danger.

She ruled a land full of people and animals alike who all knew her through something personal. She could be fair but at times she could be harsh and hurtful to the ones that offended someone or thing, but that happened rarely. In this Toria had met someone who was a Captain of a beautiful ship that had sailed all around the world just to see this land, which was rumored to be beautiful.

In Loraine Hansberry ’s play A Raisin in the Sun, Walter Makes a bad decision but doesn’t want to be wrong. He feels as though he knows he is wrong but doesn’t want accept itWalter considers postponing his business, Due to wanting his family happy and having a better relationship with his wife. Walter shows stubbornness because he was going to get the money for the house for his business but and mainly choosing things for the family and not asking how that person feels.
Things were completely disparate in the 1950’s from what they are now. Especially for African-American people, they had strong prejudices against them, which could make it impossible for them to do things in society. In Lorraine Hainsberry’s A Raisin in the Sun we meet the Younger family, an African American family in the 50’s, but we get to see them have dreams and attempt to follow those dreams. We get a close look at what a typical lifestyle would be for people in the same situation. The Younger family are fantastic examples of the American Dream, but they each have their own different dreams, and each dream has an outer shell plus a deeper meaning on the inside.
