The noncontradiction principle states that “ a thing can not be and be at the same time and in the same way”. This principle helps us to determine or pick out a truth from a lie. A statement is only a lie if it contradicts the truth. For example, I could say that it is raining outside but my friend could say that it is not. These two statements cannot both be true. If we are both talking about the weather in Lubbock and it is raining in Lubbock then it can be said that my friends statement contradicts my statement. The truth and the lie can then both be determined. The noncontradiction principle is highly related to the existence of God. There is either a God or there is no God, but both ideas cannot be true. It is either true or false. Because the whole basis of christianity is on the fact that a man named Jesus thought he was and actually was God, proves the truth in God. The only way that Jesus is not God is if he was a liar. If God does not exist what is the “motis oporendi” or M.O. of religion in the commandments? They cannot be for money or power because we are given the free will to act and say as we want. Without the existence of Christ what is the reason or drive for a moral society? Because there is evidence such as calendars,stories, literature, and miracles which prove the existence of God, Natural Law and morals exist. God “enables man to discern by reason the good and the evil, the truth and the lie” (CCC1954). Moral Law is the laws that bring us true happiness in life and ultimately brings us closer to God. God does not force the commandments on us rather than give us the freewill to choose him. In conclusion, God is the primary reason behind a moral society. The ten commandments were given to us by God so that we may live moral lives and know right from wrong. The popular views of society and ignorance causes many people including myself to sometimes keep from being a moral person or even forgiving
