Introduction This page provides a view on personal development clarifying the definition, discussing the position I see myself in the next ten years and the various aspects that drive to that decision and finally to draw my conclusion. Personal Development Personal development is a lifelong process. It is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential (SkillsYouNeed, 2011). Generally Personal development is the sensible quest of individual progress by intensifying the knowledge of ones character and improving personal abilities. In the process of developing myself I have come up with a vision statement of where I see myself in the next ten years …show more content…
I have discussed the various aspects of my life and how they would help me to achieve my aims. How these different variables are applied will determine whether the vision is achievable or there is a possibility of failure of it becoming a reality I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in accountancy (general) at the University Of Botswana. I am looking forward to graduating and pursuing a career path of my choice. Where do I see myself I 10 years? It’s a question that has lingered in my mind for quite a while as I pursue my final year at the …show more content…
More importantly attitude is guided by your mind. If you spend your mental energies worrying about what might happen next, your outlook in life (your attitude) is probably negative. They continues to explain that if you spend your mental energies taking each day as it comes and appreciating the experiences you are having and the people in your life, your attitude is probably positive and healthy. Attitude is extremely important because it drives your behaviour. Behaviour is a manner of acting or reacting under a general set of circumstances. I believe I have a weakness when it comes to attitude because most of the time I choose to worry and lose sleep over situations around me. This has led me to come up with an idea of having a life coach. Life caching is a professional partnership between coach and individual focused on one’s life direction and is based on a holistic and action based approach that promotes the process of understanding overall life purpose (Gilmore, et al., 2012). This will help build my attitude towards reaching the aims I have set to accomplish in the next ten years of my life.
It directs the actions you take, your energy and most of all your thoughts. Life will show up for you according to how you think it is; and if you regularly maintain the belief that life has a consignment of enjoyable things you will find and see them. Do you think Oprah Winfrey would have gotten to where she is now without a positive mindset? I think not. She came from poverty to one of the world’s wealthiest women all because she is one of the biggest believers and supporters of a positive mindset.
SCI411 Academic and personal development Portfolio: Part 1 From not being in education for a few years, being able to recognise my own academic skills, strengths and weaknesses was quite difficult. However, over these first couple of weeks in lectures my learning strengths and weaknesses have made themselves apparent. Whilst filling out the questionnaire Skills Self-Assessment Audit (Theeducators, 2013) it took a lot of understanding of the questions to be able to answer honestly, and my lowest scores reflected this in the personal effectiveness category. Personal Growth: A Representation of One’s many Struggles Throughout life one exhibits growth as a person and this growth is achieved through trial and error. The adage, “You gotta hurt in order to know. Fall in order to grow.
Who Am I? Throughout my course IDS 240 Foundations of Lifelong Learning, I have gained a variety of new insights that will forever change my values and compassion of who I am in this world. It was through various theories, including Strengths, spiritual gifts, and different personality inventories that provided me with great clarity in the search for my vocational calling. Although at times I felt a sense of confusion when learning the 3 Facets and reading the first two chapters of the Palmer Parker textbook, there is no doubt in my mind that I will be able to overcome these issues and successfully continue my journey. Self-awareness is a key component to answering such questions as to “who you are as a person?”
School that is all I know for now, taking baby steps that will lead me to take a big step with my life. Hoping that just focusing on living and being open to new ideas will help me to the path that is destined for me. For the future I know that as long as I have the desire to continue my education I can find the right career path for myself and that I will find myself in the process. One of the hardest things to admit to myself and others is that I don’t know what my purpose is. Although, when I say that I am wrong, I do know what my purpose is.
Depict me; a full-time CSR, Mother, and wife. I have always wanted to go back to college, even after I dropped out, in 2010. I have always aspired to be a Network and Technology Manager. My dreams has been put on the back burner because of my priorities. Now, my priorities have changed, so now I can finish what I have started.
I 'm sure that college fantasy will change and morph into something else as I change and morph with passing time. Likewise, my life goals will most likely change, however the underlying theme seems to remain the same. I want to be able to say that I went through and finished college, went traveling in my studies while I am still young, and made meaningful connections to people that I love. Most of all, I want to make a difference I can be proud of, and remain happy throughout my long adventure of life where ever it takes me. Now that you have a bit more insight to some of the decisions and experiences in my life, maybe you can understand why you would get so many different answers when asked who I am.
I know what i want to do in life, i know what degree i need, what job i want, and how much my goal salary will be. I want to be remembered as someone who is very successful and worked hard for their money. My philosophy is, work hard to get to the top, but do what you love to get there. I hope to become a CEO, owner, or senior manager. In my opinion, i am a very good communicator, and i think i would do a great job respectfully but directly communicating and working with my employees to create the best most functional and profitable company that i can.
Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals. My lifetime goal is to travel the world and study how different cultures influence the business of fashion. I believe through exploring varying cultures and exchanges, I will be an asset to stores, magazines, or film productions. As excited as I am to see the beauty, learn about the history and study the design, I am really eager to learn how to run a successful business.
My Ideal Self Who/what do you want to achieve/have, why? In the shorter term (3 years), I want to graduate from HELP University’s Degree of Psychology in first-class honours. I understand claims stating such academic achievement is merely a graduation certificate, without guarantee of work opportunities. However, my aim is not motivated towards work opportunities or anything materialistic; I just want to appreciate and value every learning opportunity.
‘Conscious bringing into awareness of a greater understanding of both who, and how, we are in the world is known as the process of personal development’ (Parfitt, 2006 as cited by Share & Lalor, 2009, p233). By actively working on our self-development we can advance and progress and not be stuck at a certain point. ‘The social care worker is not practising to his or her full potential if they are not engaged in awareness and development of the self’ (Share & Lalor, 2009, p123). ‘Self-awareness, self-management and self-care are critical elements of emotional and professional competence’.
3.1.5 The last psychological factor is attitude. An attitude shows that a person’s relatively consist evaluations, feelings, and tendencies toward an object or idea. For example, our phone buyer gadgets hold attitudes such as “Buy the best“, the Apple products has become the best electronics products in the world. So that, a person’s attitude can help themselves to recognize what is good and what is no good for our daily life. 3.2 PERSONAL
All of these can step-by-step help me develop my personal and professional skills, also provide a foundation for continued professional development. To conclude my reflection, I have discussed my future employability, how to use the skills and experiences to own professional development,
DEVELOPMENT PSYCHOLOGY: REFLECTIVE ESSAY In life of an individual there are several developmental changes or events which occur as continuity of span of life. Now days the Professional development is essential for our life, it can provide the drive to progress careers, kept across the industry competitive and, ultimately, can make you more employable. Professional development is something you will do every day of your life without even thinking about it; however, being aware of the development you learned will allow you to record this and develop in a proffessional way. In order to be effectively in work field and your lifetime, it is important that you need to improving your knowledge and skills continually to keep yourself at high levels of professional competence. When I finished my degree at university and go to work area I found difficulty to deal with problems in work field, because the people I met are think in different way from people where I was at university, it is something like to put someone inside box for long time after that you put it in crowded area and he or she has to communicate with these people in order to be up to date for life changes.
