Kaiser Permanente has been equipped since 2007 with Health Connect; which is the largest private electronic health record implementation in the world. This is a highly sophisticated electronic program that integrates inpatient, outpatient, and clinic medical records with appointments, registration, pharmacy, and billing for all kaiser members. In addition, this electronic program includes an entire medical library with a whole set of care support tools which are accessible to doctors, nursing staff and patients (Kaiser Permanente, n.d.).
The guidelines set by the NP’s Core competencies involves educational programs for nurse practitioner and are referred to as essentials behaviors for all NPs (The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner, ([NONPF],2017). As a future NP, this course has echoed the importance to critically examine information given by finding evidence to support and manage care for the individual or the population, which I will apply to my practice. This, in turn, will offer better treatment plan and optimize better patient outcome. Using the differential diagnosis to pinpoint the best possible diagnosis for individuals has helped me to use critical thinking about my patient and to find the appropriate plan of care. Integrating humanities and sciences in nursing is important and allow individuals to enhance their knowledge and critical thinking skills in their nursing practice. The information I learn in this course has taught me that evidence-based research findings can be used to shape future practice settings going forward. Nursing is a knowledge-based profession, and improved enrollment in the field is critical to career mobility. With the complex and ever changing healthcare system, nurses have been called upon from time to time to assess situations and avert complications. Accelerated BSN programs can prepare graduates to reach new skill levels in areas like leadership, critical thinking, and communication.

By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university. A friend of mine who is a recent graduate from NYU College of Nursing has praised the program and conveyed to me a very positive experience. The curriculum allows students a hands-on medical approach in the Clinical Simulation Learning Center for those that are enrolled at NYU. During the FNP III rotation, the student has seen many patients who have complex chronic illnesses than other two rotations that she completed for the FNP I and FNP II courses. The student had many opportunities to independently interview and exam the patients, then come up with differential diagnoses and treatment plan based on the pertinent and impertinent information and evidence-based practice. The preceptor, Dr. Jeanne-Elyse Cedeno, a medical physician/owner of the clinical site, always encouraged the student to think as a primary care provider in many ways. In this paper, the student is going to discuss the progress of the eight objectives (see Appendix A for details), discuss her personal growth and development in the nurse practitioner role, provide the information on what she learned in the clinical that will be valuable to her future practice, and describe any missed opportunities that she did not get out of this experiences as expected, discuss for areas of improvement in the future clinical rotation, and the summarize the final evaluation with her preceptor.
My teaching philosophy stems from my belief that the gauge of a teacher 's success is how effectively the teacher prepares students, not only for present courses, but for their future professional careers. As a Nurse, I am committed to the nursing profession and I chose nursing since; nurses have the chance to a life changing event to every patient. Nurses promote Health Education, Healing and Prevention of Illness, as well as performing end of life care through a dignified death. I chose to be a nurse because I wanted to contribute to humanity, to feel that the world was in some small way, better because I was a part of it.
The client had an L-hemisphere CVA on 8/11/10. After the stroke, the client was admitted for a 5 day acute care hospitalization and then into an inpatient rehab setting for six weeks for one hour every day. Through a speech evaluation, the client was diagnosed with a mild anomic aphasia and mild apraxia of speech. The client 's goals are to improve her mobility, communication, and return home. This session was a re-assessment six months after she was discharged from the inpatient rehab setting.
This portfolio shows the educational journey through the BSN program at Western Governors University(WGU). The curriculum at WGU was very challenging, nonetheless it prepared me to become a safe and effective nurse. The BSN curriculum provided avenues to keep me up to date with safe practices and learn how to master therapeutic communication. WGU also helped me sharpen my critical thinking skills in order to make decisions quickly and provide safe and effective care to patients. As the result of my training, I am ready to embark in the field of nursing and do my best to make a difference in my patients lives.
I strive to enhance the quality of human life through sound investigation and precise medical judgment. I hope to prolong life by simply understanding the mechanism of human disease, validating prevention and identifying the most effective treatment of disease. Research contributes an imperative component in for improvement of patient care, treatment, and prevention of health disparities and because of this I intend to incorporate practice and research.
Ambulatory care settings are often the first places where patients discover why patient’s chose Bellin. Bellin has illuminated my professional career, advocating for patients and families within my current ambulatory setting position, as evidence in finding a personal passion in supporting a pilot refill team as the lead registered nurse coordinator was on maternity leave. This previous experience has given me the insight to further challenge myself. Professional development has expanded not only myself in my career professionally, as well as educationally in working toward my masters within nursing, but through involvement as now a committee member of the advancement team. In completing three advancement program cycles as a participant, signifies how increased awareness can be expanded further into ambulatory settings as a number of extravagant opportunities for professional career advancements. As lifelong learning continues, it is important to focus on patients and family outcomes through teamwork collaboration, advocating, effective communication, and equally, self-driven to accomplish goals to create and coordinate activities to promote professional development, is why I have chosen to apply for the ambulatory nurse educator
We also learn that Mr. Taylor trusts his clinic and they help improve his health care experience. A nurse who was assigned to him took one hundred percent care of him. She gave full attention to him and kept his mind away from the pain and got to know him personally. Thus this indepth communications and care is a great facilitator.
During these past weeks at the Archbold ER, I had the opportunity to put into practice many of the content learned in class. This included but was not limited to the proper placement of a Foley catheter using sterile techniques, insertion of an NG tube, and assessment of patients. Even though I attempted to complete some of my initial goals for this internship, I noticed that I couldn’t complete a few of them due to lack of time and lack of experience in the field. Therefore, some of my goals that I’ll need to address during the following three weeks include improve my assessment skills, have better communication with my patients, and improve my questioning to get a better understanding of the cause that brought them in.
The purpose of this memo is to give a detailed report on the success of my completed projects as well as the status on ongoing projects. Throughout this report I will discuss any questions or concerns I have with projects that I have done or that I am still working on. I will also provide an illustration of the status of each project that has been assigned in the form of a chart. The report will then go on to discuss my future plans for how I plan to complete projects that are currently incomplete.
Patients often deal with physical as well as emotional difficulties, so you must be able to empathize with your patients, treat them in a kind, caring and gentle manner, and show an inspiring and reassuring behavior.
In society today, communication classes are highly over looked because of our new developing technology. People don’t realize how much a communication class could benefit them. We have lost sight of verbal communication skills. This class has taught me to put my phone down and communicate with others. It has opened my eyes to the real world without technology. It has taught me various skills within enculturation, facial feedback, empathetic listening, primary emotion, tolerance for ambiguity, distracted listening and perception.
