ASG-AOR Character Analysis

There are many wonderful people in history, one of those people are Jacqueline Cochran. She had a few jobs but she felt that they were not the ones that she desired the most. She was first to do something, and what she did was something that is inspiring to us.

“What would you do if you were eight and kidnapped?” Addie Webster knows to well what she would do. Addie was only eight years old when two strangers took her from her own home. She was vanished for half her life and when she returned it was nothing like she expected. Addies life is shown threw the book Zero Day by Jan Gangsei. Just like any other great book there were many things I liked, disliked, and connections I made throughout it.

General Patton, in the Battle of the Bulge exercised the principles of mission command to the fullest and they yielded significantly great results for the Allied forces. General Patton employed each of the principles in different ways in order to ensure that the German surprise attack did not significantly set back the Allied forces in the war. The exercise of mission command allows a commander to conduct military operations and missions through dispersed execution. According to Army Doctrine Publication (ADP) 6-0, Mission Command, the definition of mission command is “the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander’s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations”. General Patton exhibited four of the mission command principles extremely well during the Battle of the Bulge. General Patton drove the Allied forces since he had already built the cohesive team through mutual trust. General Patton also created a shared understanding throughout all of his troops of the mission they had to accomplish. General Patton also was highly known throughout the war for always giving a clear commander’s intent and did so again in the Battle of the Bulge. General Patton also used mission orders to ensure that his subordinate units completed the strategic objective of the operation and didn’t worry about micromanaging their Soldiers. In her novel, “Ads R Us”, the first character we are introduced to is Barrett and another key character is Taylor. Barrett is wealthy, inquisitive and very compliant. Taylor is an incredibly spoiled 12 year old girl who is very vain. TAYLOR is treated like a princess and has gotten everything she wanted all her life. She is completely influenced by the chattering world. She is asked to spy on Barrett to investigate the behaviours of someone who is untouched by advertising. You later find out in the book that she was adopted, and that is why her parents and family indulge her whim.

From all the work Barton did she was so inspired to do it all by her beloved father. Her father played a big part in inspiring her in working on the battlefield. Her father was the captain in the war. Barton's father taught her geography. The most important geography he taught her was all about the battlefield. This helped her a lot later in life. It helped her get around and help soldiers all over the warfield.

This investigation will seek to answer the question: To what extent were women in Oak Ridge, Tennessee significant to the Manhattan Project during the second world war? This investigation will examine how the urgency and persistent demand to complete the Manhattan Project, allowed women to integrate into the male-dominated workplace and thus the scope of this investigation is limited to the role of women during the development of the Manhattan project. The two sources that were selected for a detailed analysis, are a book titled "Their Day in the Sun: Women of the Manhattan Project " and an interview with one of the women who worked at the site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee . These sources were specifically chosen as they provide different perspectives

The dynamic between the two brothers is quite interesting since they seem at first not to have a lot in common. Their behavior and actions demonstrate perfectly the differences between the two brothers. One could underline the fact that the dynamic between the two brothers is different from what we previously seen in Tex or The Outsiders because Peter and Edmund have two sisters.

As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. Clara Barton was born on December 25, 1921 in Massachusetts. She quickly realized her affinity for helping people when she began caring for her brother, David, after he was injured in an accident. Barton received most of her education by working as a bookkeeper and a clerk for her older brother. She started teaching at the age of fifteen, after taking the advice of a doctor who recommended she begin teaching to overcome her shyness, even though at that time it was more common for men to be teachers. She eventually opened up her own free public school in Bordentown, New Jersey in 1953, although she was later replaced by a man. She then moved to Washington D.C. to work in the US Patent Office until the start of the war.

Clarissa Harlowe Barton, or Clara, was born on Dec.25, 1821, in Oxford Massachusetts. She is one of the most honored women in American history. She began teaching school at a time when most teachers were men and she was one of the first women to gain employment in the federal government. Barton risked her life to bring supplies and support to the men trying to keep their spirits up. She read to them, wrote letter for them, listened to their personal problems and prayed with them. However, she knew that where she was needed was not behind the lines but on the battlefield itself.

The military culture is its own culture within the majority culture that is in the United States. This means that those that come into the military have a new set of norms to adjust to and possibly a new set of oppression to face it if applicable to them. With the amount of African American women in the military is increasing and is causing more and more of them to assimilate to the military’s sub-culture. At this point this assimilation goes beyond being a military wife. It grows even from filling the role of a nurse and other “womanly” role to even being a general. “Two Kinds,” by Amy Tan, essentially revolves around the struggle of Jing Mei and her constant conflict with her mother. Throughout her life, she is forced into living a life that is not hers, but rather her mom’s vision of a perfect child; because her mother lost everything, which included her parents and kids, so her only hope was through Jing Mei. Jing Mei’s mom watches TV shows such as the Ed Sullivan Show, which gives her inspiration that her daughter should be like the people and actors. First her mom saw how on the television a three-year-old boy can name all the capitals of the states and foreign countries and would even pronounce it correctly. Her mom would quiz Jing Mei on capitals of certain places, only to discover that she would

From my first semester in college I could not decide what career I want to be in. After a long time thinking and researching I narrowed down my interest to political science, and my interests have directed me towards international relations and laws. I am fascinated by how the states of the world cooperate together to build a safe place for everyone. American government places a huge role in the world and many countries need American Foreign Service to help them with their problems. After hearing Melissa Martinez, I understood maybe it is good to think about working in Foreign Service. How she talked about their work is pleasing and incredible. Melissa Martinez changed my way of thinking about Foreign Service and interested me in her work.
