Ruth lived a very sad life with her father, she admire the Black folks they were poor but they appeared happy. Ruth states, “If there was one thing Tateh didn’t like more than gentiles, it was black folks”(McBride 107). Keeping that a secret was better off for her kids but James wanted to know where was his mother from, who was her family, so James went to Suffolk, Virginia where his mother was raised. The reversal of fortune happens when Elizabeth Proctor is arrested under suspicion of witchcraft. Everything that was once in Proctor’s favor, such as having an honest wife, is suddenly turned against him. Next, Proctor’s own hubris turns on him. His fear of losing his reputation led him to destroying his confession documents, which condemned him to his death. Finally, Proctor did not deserve to die.
This disgusting behavior seen today is also seen in The Crucible by Arthur Miller. The Crucible is the story of a young Puritan woman in 1692 Massachusetts who made false witchcraft accusations in an attempt to save her life and to end a rival’s life. While her actions are horrific and the cause of numerous deaths, the actions of the adults around her that enabled her lies to cost lives are despicable. Through his dishonest characters, specifically Reverend Parris, Judge Danforth, and John Proctor, Miller exposes the evils of lying to save one’s name and the destruction that inevitably ensues.
John’s life at home was cold, his wife had figured out about the affair. I realized John Proctor still loved his wife when he turned down Abagail after she flung herself at him again. He made it very clear to Abagail that he didn’t want to have an affair with her anymore. John Proctor noticed how big of a mistake he had made by cheating on his wife. Abagail Williams was crazy about John and that was soon going to get him and his wife killed.
She managed to infiltrate herself into the justice system and convince the court of her lies, and then the court forces the people to either accuse neighbours or friends or to risk being hanged. Mass hysteria takes on the village, changing the social landscape completely, destroying friendships, families and taking human lives. Abigail just sits by through all of that, being more motivated by seeing her plans succeed and she enjoys the power her lies obtain her. This exemplifies that Abigail does not have love or simple lust, she is not just a bad person, but that she has pathological obsession and is living in her own mind, still thinking that John will come back to her and that would be the ultimate fulfillment of her
Abigail loved John Proctor, a married man, in which her jealousy of his wife leads her to practice witchcraft. Abigail’s friend, Betty, accuses her of practicing witchcraft, “You did, you did! You drank a charm to kill John Proctor’s wife!” (Miller 18). Abigail's jealousy of wanting to be with John Proctor led to her accusations of witchcraft against innocent people in order to conceal her displays of witchcraft on John Proctor’s wife.

and she is deeply affected by all the tragedies in her life. She is a tragic character, who is unable to exist in the world which surrounds her so she makes up a better world in her imagination. The world she wishes to live in. People can sympathize with Blanche because of all the tragedy in her life. Susan Henthorne writes in her essay A Streetcar Named Desire, Death and desire bring Blanche to this low point in her life.
The tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet are mainly the fault oh Juliet herself. Although several other factors play a role, ultimately Juliet has to take responsibility for her own actions. Her parents are unreasonable for perpetuating the feud between the families and for trying to force Juliet to marry a man she didn’t love. Romeo was immature and hot headed and got himself banished from Verona for killing Tybalt.
