She also manipulates the girls into lying as well. Abigail also wants to keep a good reputation in the town and will do whatever it takes. Abigail is also very manipulative. After they were caught in the woods she tells the girls play along and threatened if they

Did you know Abigail is responsible for the witchcraft hysteria? Abigail is responsible for the witchcraft hysteria because she blamed other people for her actions and had an affair. There were many other reasons she was accused as well. Anyhow, Abigail was a very mean person that always wanted everything to go her way.
For example, she lied to her uncle about dancing in the woods claiming it was only sport. She also lied about her name stating it be clear as ever although she slept with John Proctor. During court, she lied about Mary Warren being a bird. Her lies often caused events to escalate quickly. Thus showing her lies contributed to the witchcraft hysteria.
Out of all the characters in the book, there are many that contributed to the hysteria of the witch trials, however, of these characters Abigail Williams contributed the most. In the beginning of the play, we see Abigail and a collection of other girls dancing and making a charm in the woods. Abigail made this charm in order to kill Mr.Proctor 's wife. If Abigail wasn 't so crazy in love with John this scene in the woods probably wouldn 't have taken place. Therefor, Parris would have never caught the girls and there wouldn’t be rumours of witchcraft.
She manipulated the other convicted girls so she wouldn't be the only one to convince the court. The girls had no choice but to follow abigail because they knew the things she can come up with and were scared of that. The Salem Witch Trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. It was such a massive, bizzare occurance that logically, something or someone should be blamed for the start of it. Although it is one of America’s most showing cases of mass hysteria, there had to have been many other causes for the tragic ending. Salem’s tragic ending in The Crucible was clearly caused by an abundance of factors, but the two most weighty were Abigail Williams and the idea of reputation in Salem. Abigail Williams is very much to blame for the tragic ending in Salem for many reasons.
In my own personal well thought of opinion, I believe that Abigail Williams is the one to blame for the witch trials due to multiple reasons. Firstly is that because of her self greed of trying to keep a well polished reputation and to not face the consequences, she did all that she could so that she would not get in trouble herself, which was acting or pretending to the best of her abilities, and claiming that the people she stated has either met the devil or created an agreement with him. Another would be attempting to eliminate the individuals she or the girls that follow her dislikes, which includes the upper class people, certain individuals that seems suspicious, etc. Lastly of course is the idea that she is just doing it to seize the
She not only forces the girls to lie but forces herself too. On the other hand some, more than others, do think that Abigail Williams is nothing but an innocent girl or child. These might have created this opinion based off of her past filled with great trauma and tragedy. She witnessed her parents being murdered with her own two eyes and at such a young age.
Abigail’s villainy consists of lying, plotting revenge, and murder. She is a great villain because whenever someone accuses her of lying, she can think of an excuse really quickly. All of the immediate comebacks keep the reader on their toes. “DANFORTH: turning worriedly to Abigail: … ‘Is it
A dynamic character like Abigail has lied before in the past and now has experiences something more sinister which is unique for a character in the story and makes the plot better with Abigail’s wickedness. Through the Trials of the Salem, the story will always have a person that will stand out when it is mentioned, and Abigail Williams takes the cake of being the most horrific, yet a great character in the story because it isn’t The Crucible without Abigail as being the antagonist and the tension builder. The Village will never forgive of what she did to all the innocent women she has killed. Abigail has shown that she is a very Dynamic character from her emotions, to her actions, and to her experiences she has made in
During the Salem Witch Trials a lot of people were accused of using witchcraft. As a result many people died for other people’s lies, rumors, and selfishness. There is one person that really caused and is most to blame for all the chaos, her name is Abigail. Abigail is to blame for all that has happened in the Witch Trials, the reason for that is because of all the accusing and lying she has done. In addition, it all leads up to her for instance, she used a doll to accuse people of witchcraft.
Abigail accused many innocent people of witchcraft and she also told lies about the people she thought were witches. She made her accusations very believable for the judges to put innocent people to death. In conclusion, I say Abigail Williams was the most to blame for the events of the Salem Witch Trails. Her character flaws of dishonesty, envy, and lust costed many innocent people their lives and left survivors of the Salem Witch Trails wretched
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play which contains a multitude of complex characters . In the play, the characters’ motivations and inner processes are explored.
