How Abraham Lincoln uses language to address the United Stated in his First Inaugural Speech

The 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, is noted as one of the greatest and most embossed presidents in history because of his many accomplishments. Lincoln is considered one of the most influential politicians and one of the best writers in American politics. Lincoln captured Americans with his language and how he addressed the nations. Lincoln was known for his many successes and the symbol that he left of the American country. A man with integrity and strength, that taught himself to read, captured Americans confidence in becoming the next President with his first inaugural speech. Lincoln, with many qualities, knew how to use his humbleness and confidence of abilities. These abilities of Lincoln will be shown as I explain how he …show more content…

The language Lincoln used was not only perfect to the American people, but it was also dictated perfectly. Throughout this selection of speech, Lincoln reaffirms his love for his country and his lasting desire to preserve it and unite it. However, his compassion and love are what wins the American’s over. Lincoln uses that compassion for his country to derail the issue of going to a Civil War. Lincoln does not use a plan of action in this selection of speech, her rather uses his language skills and reminds the American people of the problems that American will face if we have a Civil War. He derails this by addressing the issues and not stating a plan of action. He dictates only by reacting to the events happening around him, instead of laying out the plan. His compassion for the country and the language he uses most likely captured American’s heart, however not setting out a plan of action could have left some American’s lacking the confidence they needed in an United States
