Despite what people think about Abraham Lincoln, across hundreds of nations all over the world, he’s known for the things he has done and the things he has said. Abraham Lincoln has been around several centuries moreover has an important meaning to many lives. It is safe to say that he will be still be around for a very long time, continuing to have a huge impact on many people and their lives. On February 12, 1809, Abraham Lincoln was born on a one-room log cabin at the Sinking Spring Farm in Hardin County, Kentucky which is now called LaRue County. He then became the second child out of the three born to his parents, Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks-Lincoln. Lincoln’s dad, Thomas, became one of the richest men throughout all of his hard work which did not last much longer as he lost everything he had, which got him and his family moving to the now present Spencer County, Indiana. Lincoln and his family started going to Separate Baptists church moreover, had different views regardless of alcohol, dancing, and slavery. On October 5, 1818, Lincoln’s mom, Nancy, died of milk sickness, which then left Sarah in charge. Abraham’s mom’s death devastated him, leaving him to isolate himself from his dad. On December 2, 1819, his father married a widow named Sarah Bush Johnston, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky whom Abraham grew close to. Lincoln then made a lot of effort to have more knowledge. Unlike his parents being unschooled, they motivated him to read and write, especially his stepmom. Sarah died on January 20, 1828 when she was giving birth at the age of twenty. Nevertheless, he decided to begin his political career with a campaign for the Illinois General Assembly in March of 1832. In April, The Black Hawk War broke out, moreover Lincoln molded the 31st Regiment of the Illinois Militia consisting of his neighbors which elected him as the captain. However, he lost the election for General Assembly on August 6, going into eighth out of all thirteen candidates. After he worked as both a postmaster and a county surveyor, he then became a lawyer. In the year of 1834, he had a second campaign, which ended up being really successful, resulting him to run as a Whig after he won the election to the state legislature as well. In 1836, he moved to Springfield, Illinois, enrolling himself in a bar in addition to practicing law under John T. Stuart. Later on, Lincoln became known for the tough moreover challenging cross-examinations along with closing arguments. On November 4, 1842, Abraham marries Mary Todd in Springfield, Illinois.
