An employee will always remember the praises that he got from his manager rather than the negative feedback. Identifying employee needs and full filling those needs to encourage them to achieve the organizational goals is known as motivation. The employees can be motivated either monetarily or non-monetarily.Abraham Maslow, a psychologist, developed his theory of individual development and motivation in 1943 and he believed that all people have needs to be satisfied and that they will take efforts towards fulfilling those needs. He assumed that human needs could be organized according to their sequence of steps known as Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. Maslow 's hierarchy of needs is shown in a pyramid. At the bottom of the pyramid are the most fundamental levels of needs and at the top is the need for self-actualization. Basic requirements for human survival are called physiological needs. If these requirements are not met, the human body cannot act properly and will eventually fail. These needs are hunger, thirst, air, food, clothing, shelter, exercise, sex, etc.. At this level a person after satisfying his basic needs hunts for some safety, security, balance, care from physical and emotional harm and freedom from fear or pain. In the absence of physical safety they experience stress. After above needs are fulfilled, the next level of human needs is interpersonal and involves feelings of belongingness. According to Maslow, humans feel a need of belongingness and acceptance
