Numerous past studies have been suggested to explain the influences of academic performance. Although the literature presents a wide variety of academic performance factors, this review will particularly focus on psychological problems (stress, anxiety and depression), social support (friends, family and special person) and gender. It is also included previous analysis done by other researchers as well as the method performed.

A research by W.Y Abdel Wahed & S. K Hassan (2016) found that female students experienced higher stress and anxiety rather than male students among 442 medical Fayoum University students as well as a study done by Lama M Al-Qaisy (2011) found that females are more anxious than male but males are more depressed than females among 200 students in Tafila Technical University. However, there are findings contradict a number of previous studies that did not exhibit any gender-derived differences in any psychological disorders. Support groups provide a sense of temporary support that is there to help you at your discretion. Because these “small groups” are presented to collectively work on self-improvement, it is seen as a
We know we should support our friends, but sometimes, things happen, and although we know we should, we don’t do it nearly enough. I understand we don’t think or talk about this is because it is not an easy subject to bring forward. Support comes in many different forms, and not just the one I tried to implement in my speech. By talking about my experiences, I hope to help my audience discover that people have many dimensions to themselves and are not just the image they project and seem to be. Appearances can be deceiving, so we should not assume we know what another person is going through based off of our own expectations.

It is vital as people need to have a sense of belonging and acceptance from their social group such as family and friends to prevent form loneliness. I learned in this activity how crucial time management skills will be to my ability to complete this course successfully. The analysis from the questionnaire (Table 2) as well as keeping a record of what activities I focus on for a couple of days, opened my eyes to a few areas of improvement. From the patterns observed I could see that most of my time was taken up by work and commitments as well as procrastination. Not being able to juggle theses successful led to irritation and was unproductive. Research suggests that managing ones emotions, being self-aware and self-motivate can be factors for success for a student (Allan, 2009).
My sleep quality becomes worse in this year, I cannot sleep well and inability fall asleep. Sleep helps the body get enough rest, thus restoring strength and energy. However, insomnia can affect my daily life and make me feel exhausted and anxiety. Firstly, Insomnia is affecting the impact of daily work. Normally, enough sleep can make our minds clear.
Family is people that are the closest to these students, they should be more understanding, open and patient to listen to their children’s worries and problems about universities’ lives (“Coping with bad grades”, n.d.). Friends are another group of people that these students can talk to. Sometimes these students do not possess any help-seeking behaviors so parents and friends have to be observant and approach them first. They might be reluctant at first but if they feel that they can believe in the people they are talking to, they will express their feelings and worries about universities lives. After the talk, parents should understand the reasons why these students are having hard times at universities and feeling stress.
Various studies across the globe have emphasised that students undertaking professional courses, are subjected to higher stress. Excessive stress could lead to psychological problems like depression and anxiety. Stress arises when the combination of internal and external pressures exceeds the individual’s resources to cope with their situation. For many young adults, college is the best time of life. These critical years can also be undermined by depression, anxiety and stress.

Social support is any type of communication that helps an individual feel more secure or certain about a situation and therefore being able to feel that they have control over a situation (2011, Kendall Hunt Publishing Co.). According to Hunt, social support emphasizes the availability of the network of people that provides support, therefore, the presence
