It can also be a challenge due to the fact that there is a standard that needs to be reached and there is a certain language that needs to be used in your written work in order to reach the set standards and also depending on the assignment. However if the student dose have a proper planning done and understanding of the assignment it can be very beneficial to the student. With academic integrity it is used as a guide for academic pursuits. With the code of conduct that every college has it always has a section on how all of their students should act with personal integrity, to respect the other students’ dignity, property and rights, and it also helps make and maintain an environment where they can succeed through their hard work and their honest efforts.
There are a number of ethical issues that can happen while doing academic writing which are fabrication or falsification of data, authorship issue, confidentiality, conflict of interest and plagiarism. If however a student dose try to pass of another person’s work as their own then this is known as plagiarism. According to an article written by Joy Don Baker(2012), which is about “The Seven Rs of Supporting Opinion and Avoiding Plagiarism”, it shows us that by following these six of seven Rs you can state your opinion and to avoid plagiarising anyone else’s work. In her article “Unconscious Plagiarism,” Rachel Tool describes how she experienced been plagiarized by unmeant from her friends and her students. Also she might use other people’s ideas by accident. She told her students that famous writers sometimes steal other famous writer’s ideas or writing structures because they want to build their tension and use fluid transitions. Long time ago, lots of students use rote memorization when they learning how to write, and students just re-transcribe what they learned from other people. When the writer heard that students always use her ideals to play jokes and communicate after class, she is kind of happy cause she thought this is likely a form of flattery.

In any school you have attended, plagiarism is a situation that a writer should not put themselves in under any circumstances. When reading the essay “Something Borrowed,” Malcolm Gladwell gave insight into the flaws of plagiarism that writers may not have thought about before. The first being that plagiarism is never acceptable (927). The second issue with plagiarism is recognizing the differences that can or cannot “inhibit creativity” (931). Being inspired by another person's work can help and guide you to build your own ideas, but simply taking their work and claiming it as yours is not permitted.
2–17. Summary: Irvin addresses the common myths of writing in his article and states the proper solution for each myth. This article also addresses what academic writing is and how thinking critically allows us to understand what academic writing is. Irvin also makes a point of how most if not all essays and writing done in college is done so in an argumentative manner.
As I engage this unit’s Read and Attend assignments, I find that my understanding of plagiarism is not as fully developed as I had previously thought. Our Unit 3 Attend assignment shares that “in a general sense plagiarism may be caused by carelessness” and these circumstances frequently precipitate the lack of care required while writing (Bethel University, 2014, p. 11). The academic integrity tutorial provided additional information which I found valuable as well. Common themes within each unit assignment provide strands of continuity, while assisting with a more comprehensive understanding. It is my opinion, the type of plagiarism that is hardest for me to avoid is “plagiaphrasing”, also known as “lazy paraphrasing” (Bethel University, 2014, p. 12).
Writing process is difficult to realize since it requires a lot of skills and knowledge. Definitely, not many of us can start writhing right away without having any problems such as grammar, vocabulary or organization. However, a person can become a better writer if he or she will practice writing every day and will pay attention to his writing problems. To become a good writer, I have to improve my grammar, follow specific steps in writing process, and avoid using similar transitional words. Grammar is the number one problem in the writing process and causes me a lot of issues.

The system is very influential to the students and creates a behavioral impact that allows the students to follow by the codes and to have complete freedom. Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time.

My Writing Struggles After taking AP English III, I became better at organizing my papers, but realizing I need to improve my grammar skills and staying focused on my supporting points. All throughout my writing career, I was always thought to be an outstanding writer, especially using vocabulary above my grade range. Naturally, I would see myself as an excellent writer as well until I took Mrs. Bingham’s AP English II course. Mrs. Bingham always gave pointers, tips, and work to improve my class’s writing skills as a whole.
