Accelerated education programs must be fueled with many components for the system to run smoothly. These various components must have the students as the main focus to be successful. Additionally, the accelerated education model will not work unless teachers and students are on the same page with their personal goals. When there is poor classroom management , no teacher support, and poor student effort the model will fail. Going to an accelerated education school with poor student effort and poor teacher support will not help your child succeed, if anything it will hold them back. As an administrator of Valley Ridge High School, we have to push the students and show them that we also care about their education. If the student does not see that we care then our model will not work. Teachers being confident that students are capable of learning will help students to be confident in themselves. If you, the teachers, do not believe in your students, who will? Students feed off the energy teachers put into their job. If the student can not control themselves then they should not be in an accelerated environment. The fault is not put only on the teachers. Situations where students are disrespectful and do not care about anything the teacher has to say, interrupts learning. Students not being motivated and choosing not do their assignments affects learning as well. A student disturbes the classroom when they do not understand the lesson being taught. National Honor Society Application It is an honor to be selected as a candidate for the St. George’s National Honor Society. I have been working toward this opportunity for many years. When reading and listening to lectures I was struck by the information presented in part two of the Jossey-Bass Reader on Educational Leadership: Moral Leadership. I believe this stemmed from three key ideas: trust, relationships, and business. To begin, I was extremely interested in the emphasis on trust and how trust is the glue that holds together a school. When reading I found myself nodding along at how important trust is to an organization especially a school that functions mostly on communication.
Of course, we are not talking here about students whose comprehension is severely impaired, because they are usually schooled individually and have a special grading system, adjusted to their needs and abilities. But in the classrooms there are often students with less obvious disabilities, which, although less severe, can also create academic challenges. Some of them, such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, are directly related to learning and may affect the speed at which students acquire the material. Others, such as anxiety or ADHD may not only disrupt learning, but also are very likely to cause discrepancies between the students’ subject knowledge and their exam and assignment results.

Public education has the tough job of having to balance these under financial constraints that make it unrealistic to have a perfect system. Because it requires less financial resources, public schooling has become less focused on each individual and more society’s needs. David Larabee argues that “[schools remain] publicly funded, publicly controlled, and radically decentralized which [focus] more on being accessible than on teaching the curriculum.”

I also think it is important to communicate to children and young people efficiently so that they understand what you are saying to them. Also you should be available to a child or young person when they want to talk to you and should take interest. Asking questions in the classroom is a good way in which to get all the pupils involved and this way when pupils are involved and no one is left out then this will get everyone together and will start to form stronger relationships with one another. Also when you praise a student for their good work then this will make them feel good and will make them want achieve more. Furthermore it is important not to make comparisons between each student because then this will make the child feel like they are less and this will start to cause problems.

It is important for people to understand that knowledge is power, and knowing that it’s not all about you is one of the best realizations one can have. Teachers need to curb their ego and model empathy, positive attitude, and leadership skills. She believes that if teachers use positive attitudes when dealing with difficult students, the students will respect the teacher more; therefore, the students will have better behaviors. Showing empathy toward the students will result in the student feeling like someone understands them.
