In the article accepting or rejecting innovation, the author mentioned that some of the people will pay double price for the designer jeans. Although the jeans without designer have the same quality as the designer one and people will only need to pay half of the price compared to the designer jeans. As a result, many people will still choose to pay double price for the designer jeans. However, the people who bought the designer jeans are only because of social value. Without acceptance, friendships, relationship, group projects, and college would not be possible. Acceptance makes interactions among people who share nothing in common possible. Appiah introduces the concept of acceptance as amends for differences with what he called the Cosmopolitans. " Cosmopolitans think that it 's OK for people to be different. They care about everybody, but not in a way that means that want everyone to be the same or like them" (Appiah 24).
What is more interesting to note, Davidson implies that people are hesitant to change. Very few people take risk in creating a new system that might be better than the standard business practice. In a normal business days, people may see that there are no problems as everything is regulating orderly. However, due to the same routine people may not see that they are not setting up for success at all. Davidson wants to prove and motivate others that new differences is the key to becoming successful.
In the essay, “Terror’s Purse Strings” written by Dana Thomas and published in New York Times. Thomas begins talking about expensive fashion bags produced around the world. She suggests a solution for this issue and how people should stop buying fakes to take counterfeiters out of business.
Today’s society has adjusted to technology in ways that make it hard to think of the circumstances without the privilege of technology. The effect of this creates a strict order that can be used as the “right way of living.” Before putting in the variable of technology the same thing happens, only there is just one “way of living.” That’s where they needed a minor change because although their system of running the society was functional, it wasn’t fair. The book Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, tells the tale of a young boy named Saul Indian Horse who goes through the struggles of trying to fit in, in a society controlled by white people. Saul tells the story of his life and the challenges he goes through. Today, money has made many people believe that you need to have a lot of money to live a great, happy life. People in the world, especially the people who don’t have as much money as the ones that do, look up to people like popular idols, because they have money. People think they have a great living life with all the money they have earned during their lives. In the short story “Why You Reckon?” by Langston Hughes, the author uses diction, colloquialism and dialect to express the fact that just because people have the money to go out to eat somewhere expensive or buy the newest clothes, does not mean that a person is happy all the time and expresses how people in the town talks. Money is what makes the world goes round and everyone has come
Session 10 and 11 include "Acceptance as an alternative agenda". Session 10 consists of “willingness exercises” and “self-as-context”. The people accept what they are told. In the book, people do not stop and think. They don't take things in, nor pay attention. Even in school they are not required to think.
Technological changes happen in those areas where the technological adoption took place. Andrew D. Foster (2010) defines “technology adoption is defined as a situation in which there are substantial unrealized gains to the use of a new technology or expansion of input use. It is thus generally reflected in a high return to adoption or input use at the relevant margin” . Feder et al. (1985) work mentioned that major work on technology adoption focused on low-income countries.
