How safe is it to ride a motorcycle in a city that never "sleeps" and has many distractions including tourist, drunk drivers and cabs? This is the number one question people ask themselves. According to Motorcycle Accident Statistics, between two and three thousand motorcyclists die each year in the United States. Motorcycle fatalities have been on the rise ever since the late 1990s, reaching a record high of 12 percent—a total of 5,037 motorcycle fatalities—of all vehicle crash-deaths in 2007 in the United States. Many drivers do not look out for motorcycles. Of these fatal collisions, the other vehicle was turning left while the motorcyclist was traveling straight in their lane or lawfully passing another vehicle 35 percent of the time. Chris Kyle Disaster Research It’s unfathomable to think that a war hero could return home and be shot by a fellow marine. But that’s exactly what happened to Chris Kyle. Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield were helping a veteran with mental health issues and trying to get him back on his feet when they were shot and killed at a shooting range in Texas.
Legal Background In the state of Nevada, battery is constituted by “any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon the person of another.” This definition is based on the Nevada Revised Statutes, Chapter 200 Section 481. Its purpose is to create a basis for prosecuting individuals involved in criminal suits. In other words, if the individual is found guilty of battery, then the statute similarly prescribes recommended consequences that correspond to the nature of their conduct.
Gregg Easterbrook, a fellow of the Brookings Institution and LA Times contributor, argues in his article, “Road Kill,” that deaths on the highway roads in America is a large and ignored problem. Easterbrook argues that the cause of the deaths can be linked to horsepower and cell phone usage. The author also writes the problem is ignored, because of moral differences and the feeling that the crashes can’t be prevented. Easterbrook also writes that the fatalities are not just limited to the drivers on the road. The author writes about the increased number of fatalities of pedestrians when crossing the streets, which further adds to the argument that the problem needs to be adressed and not ignored like it currently is (1-2).
Accident? No, this was a choice. One might defend saying that they were scared and that they were trying to remove the threat. This is a legitimate argument, but it is still flawed, by saying this they are denying the fact that they were okay with running over a
On October 1st, on a Sunday, at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, through a hotel window 500-600 people were injured and 58 people lost their lives. My paper will be about the heros in the shooting and who they were and what they did to become heros. My paper is also about what makes a hero, and who has been a hero in my life. Some of the heros in the Las Vegas shooting went by the names of Mark Jay, a brother and a hockey coach, Krystal Goddard and Amy MccAslin. A sad reality of Americans today is the mentality that individuals carry that nothing bad will ever happen to them, I won’t get cancer, I won’t have my personal information stolen, or I won’t get into an accident. In actuality, bad things happen to everyone, very often they are completely unexpected and if you were not prepared, you will soon wish that you had been. When it comes to motorcycle crashes, no one ever expects to be involved in one, and anyone who is seriously injured in one while not wearing helmet or safety gear, sure wishes that they had been. Most importantly, motorcycle helmets save lives and prevent people from minor and serious injuries. Motorcycle specific clothing, such as a leather jacket, kevlar padded pants, boots and gloves also prevent against serious or minor injuries.

Always wear helmets and fasten seat belts. Driver may need a valid motorcycle endorsement. Don 't drink and drive.
