It creates no loophole and makes us resolute in our desire for attaining academic excellence. The foundation of beyond the self-motivation of which the reality is evident in the life of one person throughout the whole world who is worthy, who has enough to make up for all our imperfections and can balance( or centre) our lives---Jesus Christ, God’s Son. This is not a matter of religion, but about a relationship. The goal is then, to become Christ-directed rather than self-directed. Beyond self-motivation is based on wisdom literature of far gone generations—biblical principles of receiving a higher self by surrendering the old selfish nature to God through His son JESUS CHRIST. It is about a person who has first walked the path of excellence in this earth. The person who can make up for all your limitations to make you 100%. There is no easy route to excellence, this is the best and the safest route to life and academic excellence.
This fact is important for academic excellence because you do things for God (I want to be medical doctor because I want to eradicate disease) that you will not do for yourself. The way you should motivate your self is by thinking head of your life and where you want to go to college and what you want to achieve in life, either that be a job or achieving a medal or trophy. These were just a few points in chapter four. I really enjoyed reading this chapter. This chapter was so intriguing because of the information it gave to us. It gave us so much information that is so relevant to a student’s life now days.
I knew that I wanted to be a doctor since early high school. Experience in a hospital and clinic setting, both personal and professional, have given me many reasons to pursue medicine. Through these viewpoints, I have gained an understanding of patient hardships like financial and travel issues, the grief associated with loss, and the trust that accompanies putting yourself or a loved one into the hands of physicians. These experiences have built empathy and compassion in me that is necessary in medicine.
This understanding has allowed me to grow tremendously. Without a doubt, this process of maturing has prepared me for the rigors of medical school. There will be many new challenges even some of the worst of experiences or things will fall apart, but I know that things will get better if I take them one step at a time. With this in mind, my aim is to become a doctor who is able to stand in her patients’ shoes and be sensitive to their symptoms and try to meet all of their needs and particularly those beyond their illness. Based on my learning and experiences in the CPD 150 class, I believe that most of the strategies that were taught in this class are very helpful in order to be a successful college student. However, a few of the factors that I think are very important and contribute a lot to college and life success are, victim and creator mindsets, self-motivation, self-management, and believing in yourself. In the beginning, some of these strategies were challenges for me. At this point, I have tried to work on myself and am continuing to work on areas that need improvement. In fact, I feel that there has been a lot of improvements in my weak areas since the beginning of the semester.

Introduction Miriam-Webster (n.d.) defines success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame”. To me success is not money, possessions, or the illusion of happiness. How the world defines success is much different than how I define success. Rick Warren, in his book “Purpose Driven Life” (2002, p.19) says “You could reach all your personal goals, becoming a raving success by the world’s standard, and still miss the purposes for which God created you.”
Philosophy of Christian School Education Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." All throughout the Bible it is very clear that children are important and that one of the most important professions anyone can have is to raise a child. The Bible also states, "Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly." (James 3:1) We who have been called to teach have a very specific and extremely important occupation. After the child's parents, teachers are the primary tools used to shape children into who they will become in the future.
My plan for academic success is to pass all my classes with a C average. Another plan for academic success that I have is to choose classes that best fit my understandings and personality. Also I would like to get my license as a senior and have a job. Another academic plan for success is to have friends, friends are important to success because if I have no friends I’ll have no one to talk to while I’m working on school work. As well as the fact that I’m horrible at all my english classes, it might be a good idea to get those improved.
My goals have changed a lot over the last couple of years. Bouncing back and forth between majors and deciding if I even want to be taking college classes right now. I kept asking myself why I should struggle with hard classes when I have a good job right now. But then I stopped and repeated “good job right now.” My job as a twenty year old might support me right now but is it going to support me in ten or fifteen years when I’m trying to buy a house and support my family?
