I remember watching videos about the periodic table on a YouTube channel I still use today called ‘Periodic Videos’ when I was too young to grasp an understanding fully, learning about Newton’s law - how even a simple thing like walking is possible and about orbitals at the start of college. These were concepts that genuinely blew my mind; shaping the way I see the world I experience every day. This is what interests me the greatest, concepts and theories that truly hold meaning from the delocalised electrons in my metal zipper, or the cells making up my finger that I’m typing with. I immensely enjoy the practical application of science, and learning about concepts that no longer seem as complicated but certainly still as astonishing. Curiosity, problem-solving as well as being highly motivated are traits I believe I possess and have refined, accompanied by the need to forever be expanding my knowledge, which I actively try to achieve by keeping up with the latest science news on websites such as ‘New Scientist’ also listening to the podcast ‘The Infinite Monkey Cage’. I am always punctual and independently driven, so would fully maximise this opportunity. However, occasionally I lack confidence; I hope this opportunity would not only gain me academic qualities but …show more content…
I would be grateful for the opportunity to speak to experienced people, gaining knowledge about their path to the career they are in, along with help to develop my research project. This hands-on experience would additionally help me to benefit other young people with a passion for science by providing information about jobs and knowledge which I can
I am interest in working abroad with an organization that responds to basic needs and encourages peace. My curiosity in these particular fields of study grew stronger when I joined international club at my high school and continued to grow through a cultural experience I had when I spent a month traveling around Europe. Although I have always had some root in pacifism, as a Mennonite, I have recently connected to this idea and have found this world view increasingly compelling. Classes like “World History II” and “Restorative Justice: Theory and Practice,” here at Bluffton, continue to inspire and confirm my desire to work in a field focusing on issues of peace, justice, and development. Bluffton University has many classes that can help me
My desire to help students in Mississippi stems from my personal experience as a student in Mississippi College. Through volunteering as a member of the Balancing The Deficit and engaging faculty and students who are native to the area, I had many interactions with Mississippians and saw the genuine kindness in them. Through those interactions, I learned to appreciate their hospitality and down-to-earth attitude. My affection toward people in Mississippi grew tremendously while in school, and I decided to serve the community after I graduate. I want to serve the community as a peer educator so that I can help teenagers in Mississippi develop good studying habits and help them find purpose and, more importantly, success in their studying
Working for Orlando Utilities Commission is in my blood. Starting with my grandfather working there as a meter technician, and then my father as a lineman supervisor. My father would recount stories of his duties as a lineman at dinner, and intrigued me as a child. However, my education and interests led me a different way. My passion for agriculture and natural resources drove me to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education and Communication with a specialization in Communication and Leadership Development.
The discovery wheel has help me understand myself better and make me certain of what kind of student I am. I am a kinesthetic student who like to work out problems myself and actual figure out problems. Even if i don 't succeed at first i know that there are other
I enjoy science, because there is always more to discover and invent. Since I was a small child, I have possessed a deep desire for learning more about science, even begging my father to teach me Ohm’s Law when I was five. Curiosity drives me to
Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult.
While I was searching for the college I wanted to begin the next part of my life in, I decided I wanted to attend an HBCU that was in a large city. Not only does Howard University fulfill both of these, but Howard also has all of my passions and interests in and outside of the classroom. I am interested in pursuing a Sociology degree within The College of Arts and Sciences. I want to organize my studies with a focus around the black community and urban development. The required and elective courses such as Problems in the Black Community within Howard’s Sociology curriculum will allow me to shape my classes to do this.
As a community college student (soon to be graduate), I feel that I have gained a new perspective on what personal growth means. Like any student with a passion for a greater future, I believe in taking every experience and opportunity from community college in order to prepare me for the next level in my education. Throughout my two years of receiving hard earned grades and becoming involved in community service projects (through Phi Theta Kappa) I realized the importance of community building and setting goals. I am proud to be the Co-President of Phi Theta Kappa and to have achieved a 3.8 GPA for my last semester. My 3.8 GPA lead me to a well-deserved position on the Deans’ List, and I am positive that Rutgers University will provide me the tools that will lead me to success.
Detroit, the car capital of America, engineering students have unlimited connections to internships and jobs after graduation. Because Michigan is a world-class research university, the world's best professors are attracted to the school. This is especially true for the College of Engineering. For example, Andre Boehman, a professor of mechanical engineering, does research in the field of automotive engineering while teaching.
When considering the nature of my academic upbringing, science has played a significant role in both my personal and scholastic development. From about the time I entered fifth grade, most of my learning ability and scholastic ability came from memorization and that alone. This skill of constantly memorizing information led me to swiftly excel in courses related to social studies, language arts, and mathematics which allowed me to apply those memories to actual problems. However, when it came to courses related to science, I was truly allowed to become immersed in new information and situations nearly everyday. From elementary school to the end of middle school, I nearly drowned myself not only in the scientific information I was learning in
Attn: Graduate Selection Committee I am expressing my interest in your master’s program in kinesiology for the fall of 2017. I will be graduating from the University of Northern Iowa and have received my bachelor’s degree in exercise science in the spring of 2017. I am passionate about continuing my education in sport psychology to further my knowledge on the aspects of sport performance. In my 13 years of participating in cheerleading and tumbling, I was never educated on mental skills, which is something I believe needs to be taught more to athletes. I have personally experienced mentally challenging obstacles when recovering from sports injuries or having to overcome fear of difficult tumbling tricks.

My main goal is to achieve, not only to receive my bachelor’s degree in psychology, but to be accepted into Bloomington’s graduate program for psychology. In my graduate studies, I would pursue my Ph.D. for psychology. I am also planning on accomplishing a double major during my bachelor years. My double major would be in english.
“Without the element of enjoyment, it is not worth trying to excel at anything.” the aphorism by Magnus Carlsen always resonates with me. I am always seeking opportunities to strengthen my capability. Seeing improvements as well as overcoming challenges have always given me a sense of satisfaction. This has pushed me to achieve anything I am eager for, especially while pursuing a research career stepwise to decipher the enigma of molecular mechanism and its modulation for better understanding and effectively targeting cancer.
I define myself as an entrepreneur. Four years as a Lego retailer has helped me learn how to retail, distribute, and maintain customer loyalty. As I outlined in my application, I buy from international distributers and sell Lego sets and minifigures through various online webstores. Because of my experiences, I am fascinated by entrepreneurship. Finding business opportunities and ways to tackle problems excites me, and my Legos have provided me with the building blocks to my future.
