On January 13th of 1999, a High School student named Hae Min Lee was murdered and the cause of death was manual strangulation. “Who did it?” was the main question everyone had. In my opinion, I think Adnan Syed, the main person and her ex-boyfriend, was responsible for all of this because there is enough evidence to prove his guilt and if there is enough evidence, then you can prove whether or not someone is innocent or guilty. Some may say that he is innocent because he has an alibi witness, but the witness’s case does not hold up and are not reliable because they also do not match any stories. First, some evidence that can prove Adnan Syed’s guilt is Jay Wild’s testimony. Jay’s testimony plays a huge role in this case because not only was …show more content…
Asia claimed she saw him the day of the murder in the library while she was with her boyfriend and boyfriend’s friend. She also claims that they had a conversation that day. Also, he could be innocent because Jay’s testimony had multiple inconsistencies. For instance, in Jay’s testimony he talked about how he and Adnan went up to Patapsco State Park to smoke and that's when Adnan and him talked about Hae, but when he testified in court, the whole story on it disappeared like it never happened. Because of these inconsistencies, Jay is not a reliable source at all and should not be the main determining factor in whether or not Adnan is …show more content…
The Nisha call is important because not only was it a call from someone that only Adnan had known from that day, but it’s also contradicts what Adnan was doing and where he was. Adnan says that he did not have his phone on him until after track practice around 5 PM meaning he would not have been able to make that call or answer it at exactly 3:32 PM, but the call did happen. Also, cell phone tower and records do not lie which means that the call that pinged near Leakin Park was not a false alarm. Lastly, Jay’s Testimony. His testimony puts him and Adnan together making Jay’s story more valid. All of the points that Jay had made were able to be confirmed through either people or records of some
This Reveals Syed Wrong actions as it connects with the timeline of the calls given by the AT&T records and thus proving Adnan Syed being responsible because the whole story is adding up and connecting to wilds story. Likewise, the testimonies of witnesses proves Syed to be guilty as charged, as it adds up to create a story that proves him as a criminal. In the crime scene 4 witnesses are interviewed or info is obtained from them. According to wilds, Pusateri and vinson, “Wilds contacted Pusateri and asked her to pick him up at the Westview Mall… then he told her that Syed killed Lee that afternoon and placed her in the trunk of her car… he returned to Vinson’s house for the rest of the evening... Vinson testified that Syed and Wilds stopped by her apartment around 6 pm” and According to McClain, McClain had written Syed a letter… reminding him that she … had seen him at the Woodlawn Public Library… before 3 p.m. on January 13.
There was not enough evidence to prove if Adnan was innocent or guilty. There were multiple people that said that Jay had Adnan’s phone but Adnan called Jay at least twice which means that Adnan would have had to use a payphone or borrow a phone. And supposedly Adnan was sitting in the best buy parking lot when he called Jay. Also in the time it took
The interview with The Intercept was meant for Jay to come out and explain what he witnessed at the time of the murder. Jay agreed to the interview to clear his name since the exposure from the Serial podcast has brought unwanted publicity to both Jay and his family. In this interview Jay talked about some very important topics in this interview and some of these topics actually work in Adnan’s favor even though it was not intended to be that way. Throughout the case Jay has been known to have a various amount of inconsistencies in his testimony. For example, In one interview with police he tells them Adnan showed him Hae's body on Edmonson Avenue and in another interview with police he tells them it was at a Best Buy.
There are many pieces of evidence that could suggest multiple different people, but there is one person that sticks out the most: Jay. Jay is very involved in not only the story, but as well as the murder. He did admit to ‘helping’ move Lee’s body and burying it, but as for the Serial podcast, he’s in almost every episode.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened that day. Lastly, there wasn’t enough witnesses that heard Adnan was leaving with Hae that day. There is not enough evidence to convict him of that murder. Primarily, because the only witness they have on Adnan is Jay. Many people have their droughts on Jay people believe he killed Hae Lee.
Why would Jay need to keep changing his story if he did not commit the murder. Another coincidence was that jay knew where the car was located and he described the dead body in so much detail (“The Alibi’). There is no way if you glanced at a dead body you would remember so much detail. Also, he would not have known where the car was if he had no part in the murder. Along with the evidence I listed and other inconsistent evidence not adding up, prove Adnan is just as innocent as
.I think that kind of sums it up for Jay. Adnan Syed is innocent of the murder of Hae Min Lee because there is hardly any evidence leading to Adnan being guilty. The first reason I believe Adnan is innocent is witnesses said Adnan was at the library at the time Hae was murdered therefore it is impossible for Adnan
My verdict for Adnan’s Syed on the act on to see if he can testify about to see if he is innocent and I'll tell you why. My first piece of evidence is that Adnan did have an, ex-girlfriend but things got worse. When time goes on Adnan was charged with a human killing towards his high school ex-girlfriend and got sentenced to 17 years in an institution and this is why. Adnan strangled his ex-girlfriend to death because he was not showing joy in Hae Min Lee because she was was getting a new boyfriend. The detectives needed to find the murderer who killed Hae Min Lee, and if the investigators need strong informal evidence, then the investigators can put charges on Adnan.
Nisha was just a girl who only knew Adnan and when she called the detectives they knew it was true because she didn’t know
The real reason all eyes were on Adnan was due to Jay’s testimony. However, there were plenty of inconsistencies that were, in my opinion, too easily forgotten. At first, he says he helped bury the body, then during the second interview he had nothing to do with that. Who knows what his actual role in the murder was and whether he was framing Adnan. He did after all give the police the motive for the murder.
Therefore, Jay was in control of stating all the details regarding the events that transpired on January 13th. Jay was left with Adnan’s phone the afternoon of the disappearance, accordingly, all of the phone calls made that day were logged to background check the timeline provided by Jay. The timeline designed was not fully accurate, some phone calls did not match the story or times that the police were told happened. ” By trial, though, Jay has sorted that out, so that his story better matched the call log. He testified that he called Jenn Pusateri first, at 3:21 to find out if Patrick was home.
This was quite the battle for Adnan Syed, a young oriental male who was accused of murdering his long-time girlfriend in January of 1999. Hae-Min Lee, Adnan’s girlfriend, went missing in January and her body was found buried in a local park 3 weeks later. Adnan Syed is innocent of killing Hae-Min Lee because of three reasons: Cristina Gutierrez, Adnan’s lawyer, failed to put him in a position to win the trial, Jay is not an effective witness, and the window of time does not match up. Adnan is not at fault
Everyone charged with a penal transgression has the right to be considered “innocent until proven guilty” according to the US Constitution. Did the prosecution use reasonable and accurate evidence to prove Adnan guilty in the murder case of Hae Min Lee? On January 13 in 1999, a Woodlawn high school senior, Hae Min Lee disappeared after school, and one month later on February 10 in 1999, her body was found buried in the Leakin Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Adnan Syed, her ex-boyfriend, was convicted of this murder by the state of Maryland after one year in February 25 in 2000. The eyewitness of this case was Jay Wilds, a former friend of Adnan, who testified against him and stated that Adnan told him he was going to kill Hae, Jay also reported
Serial is a podcast created by Sarah Koenig. Serial is based on the court case of a Adnan Syed, this podcast discusses important information on whether or not Adnan is guilty or innocent of committing murder. The case against Adnan is very murky. People believe that Adnan should not have been tried for the tiny amount of evidence they had against him, which was a friends story, and cell phone records.
Pride and Jealousy are very powerful things! Some people will go to the farthest limits to preserve their own ego and selfish desires. The Serial Podcast by Sarah Koenig is about the very complex murder of Hae Min Lee on January 13th, 1999.
