1. British Library, London: The British Library is the largest library in the world, having more than 170 million items in both printed and digital formats. I have a 1st edition copy of "The Jungle" written by Upton Sinclair and published by Doubleday & Page in 1906. The book binding is very solid. The hard cover is in good shape with some wear on the white detailing on the cover and spine.

The Architectural Fantasy by Hubert Robert is an oil painting created in 1802. For an architectural painting, is displays much emotion through the use of color, line, and light. The painting does not utilize a multitude of colors but still is able to provide an exciting scene. Although it does not appear to be that large in the gallery, the work would actually be prominent if it were a standalone piece. The artist’s use of perspective, light, and color give the overall composition a balanced look.
It is called the Museum of Civilization, and it is located inside an airport outside Severn City. His museum later became famous in the world after the collapse. Some characters think that it is just a rumor but the museum exists in real life. “‘I thought the Museum of Civilization was a rumor,’ August said” (124). The museum was mentioned several times by different characters and people in year fifteen would go there to look at the past after their long days of work.

A simple book written with the best intentions; Ray brings to the world Fahrenheit 451 in 1953 (Kipen). Having World War II influencing Ray’s ideas for the book. Fahrenheit 451 brings ideas and points that Ray Bradbury felt the need to write and open the public’s eyes to, as to how technology is changing people’s lives and they are leaving behind books and their critical thinking. Ray Bradbury brings a book about censorship and how banning or in this case burning books does not keep people from the curiosity of the message books have. A big irony arises and his book becomes banned and censored, exactly the same way as in his book.
“Do you know why books such as this are important? Because they have quality. And what does the word quality mean? To me, it means texture” (Bradbury). By texture, Ray Bradbury implies that books provide knowledge and wisdom that is needed in a society.

The story is set in a dystopian future explaining the life of a fireman named Montag whose job is to burn books: no questions asked. During the book, Montag destroys beautiful books without reading them or knowing anything about them. In Fahrenheit 451, “destruction of beauty” is a frequent theme found throughout the novel. “There must be something in books, things we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there” (Bradbury 48).

Introduction The site I chose and observed over seven total visits was my local public library, Pleasant View Library. Pleasant View Library was opened on June 25, 1975 by the North York Public Library Board and was retrofitted in 1995. It is currently one of the smallest libraries in Toronto. This makes the task of observing all of the library easy because one can see everything simply from their seat.
