I consider myself to be an Advanced Placement student. I have many strengths. I am very organized, and constantly keep all my work for different classes separate, and my space tidy. In class, I try to be open minded about the material, so that I may learn it to the best of my ability. I always do my homework, and have everything submitted on time. I am always very respectful of my classmates and teachers, and have very good social skills. However, I also have weaknesses to go along with my strengths. There are many areas I need to improve in, and I am willing to put the effort into making these things strengths. I need to work on studying for tests and quizzes, for short periods of time each day, leading up to them. I have found out recently
My greatest academic strengths include critical thinking, critical reading, creativity, listening skills, and perseverance. I’ve gained these strengths by challenging myself academically. My greatest academic weaknesses include a short attention span, cramming, and not being a good test
In my opinion, Rogue Community College strength is advancement of student learning. As a non-traditional student that lost their job in 2009 due to the economy downturn and chose to return to college to obtain a four-year degree after twenty-nice years. RCC was instrumental in connected me with individuals who helped mentor me through my transition from RCC to SOU. Many of my RCC instructors took extra time to answer questions after class and displayed such commitment and respect to all their students.
“The mission of RCC’s Honors Program is to offer academically motivated and talented students an intellectually challenging environment within a supportive and inspiring community. The Honors Program blends academic excellence and adventure, allowing students to complete advanced college transfer work while collaborating with fellow students and faculty, and serving the community.” The mission of the honors program is one that reflects integrity, healthy ambition, and the desire to serve others through its membership. My high school experiences and new college experiences have prepared me for the rigorous and rewarding honors program curriculum.
AP classes are said to be very hard, of course very challenging, and that they suck the living life out of you. However, regardless of that, I still choose it, because I believe that the more of writing skills you have, the better. I can’t have enough of English skills, because there is always something I can improve on. With all the different literary techniques, I can write better essays.
My work ethic and study habits are strong. Quizlet, flashcards, and notes are all study tools I use. I have been on Honor Roll for each year at Jack Jouett Middle School and get all A 's. When confused about a concept, I always ask for help early so I understand it before the unit becomes further difficult. Math and science are interesting and bring challenges.
Since I first came to college I’ve had the opportunity to discover myself and who I am as a person, and here is what I can tell you. I’m a modest consistently hard working individual who continues to set goals for herself. I take responsible for my actions when things go wrong rather than look for others to blame. I am a person who is committed to constructing something larger for the benefit of others rather than personal gain. I am a person who believes in teamwork and open communication.
I found true happiness by accepting the raw honesty and truth that had become my life, and because of this I found that I loved to learn, I loved to help others in similar/more difficult situations than mine, and that I could do whatever I put my mind to. Everything in my adolecense had been "what ifs" but I knew that I could control my life at school and how I spent my free time. I tried my hardest to take as many Advanced Placement classes at my school because I wanted to take advantage of the fact that I was being given a free education- something that many children in thiis world are not offered. Although, at times I struggled, I absolutely loved my decision because it changed me. AP classes were a different type of dedication not only from students towrds the work, but also from the teachers to the students.
In the 1950’s the intentions of AP classes were to benefit students. These rigorous classes were meant to give student’s college level work and exams to better prepare them. While also gaining college credits to save money. However, over the course of time the purpose of AP classes have changed and failed. In particular, many colleges do not accept AP courses as college credit and students are required to repeat the course at college, an honors class is seen as more useful in the long run, students do not get credit for the class if they do not pass the exam, some state that the work is not like college work at all, and it causes students to be stressed.
In “Strengths Finder 2.0,” Tom Rath informs us that, “You cannot be anything you want to be- but you can be a lot more of who you already are” (Rath p9). I agree with him in the fact that we must focus on our strengths rather than trying to better our weaknesses in order to become successful. So many people today put their attention towards improving their weaknesses that they are surpass by others who focus on their strengths. After learning my own personal strengths, I have a better understanding of who I am and how to focus on these both in school and in the workforce.
Zuhei. M GLPO Spring Essay This is second semester soon to be a senior, it's nerve wrecking but exciting at the same time. I want to enroll in Pre-AP English because I think it could help me in several of ways. This can help attain my goals because it helps me receive a higher gpa. I plan to contribute to Maricopa High School community by joining student council, if I join student council I would be involved in more things and can help at any events, I am committed to go above and beyond and I am self-motivated to do anything necessary. Skills that I have that are essential for advanced placement include someone who will try their best every day, someone who will go above and beyond in completing their assignments and are respectful and responsible.
As a college freshmen, there is no doubt that I still have a long ways to go in order to achieve my academic goals. And through this journey, I know that I will encounter highs and lows just as I experienced in the past, most notability in high school. I keenly remember instances around this time where I doubted my abilities when subjects like math was proving to be difficult, even when I was trying to put in effort to stay on track. I was struggling in math because I did not try to identify my weaknesses, and never tried to come up with solutions to fix my problems. Rather, I chose to give up on math and settle with a grade barely passing.
AP classes have prepared me for college classes which take time to study and comprehend. I have also taken plenty of Honors classes, by having the opportunity to expand my learning. I was involved in Cure Club, HOSA Club and Beta Club my junior year of high school. After I changed high schools, after my junior year, I joined HOSA and Beta again at my new school. HOSA club is a great educational experience, especially if you are interested in going into the health field.
Strengths: As a student one of my strengths is organization. I can say I can keep my school materials and notebooks organized in a way that I and others can comprehend. The reason I can say I am organized is because, I have hardly ever had in the past or present any issues with trying to find homework or assignments because I always kept my materials for each class organized and in a place I could easily find. Another strength I have is social skills. I can believe that I communicate with others well in a group.
To be an honors student takes a lot of hard work. There are many factors that go into being a successful student. I believe that you must be determined, organized, and disciplined. These three qualities are the key to succeeding in your goals because I have used them all throughout my high school career, and plan to use them in college. Determination is the quality that makes you keep on trying, and to never give up, even if things get difficult.
