ALUMINIUM FORGING
Why is Aluminum Forged
The recent widspread of light weight metals in the transport sector has replaced steel made materials .Aluminum has a wide range of applications and it is most widels used these days because of its light weight and strength It is clear that some of the emerging casting technologies deserve close examination when considering fabrication options available to the designer, however the characteristics of a relatively simple forged design often provide the desired weight + strength at low cost. These characteristics are clearly understood by some Australian automotive suppliers .
Strength
When forged and heat treated the aluminum exhibits many properties as compared to high grade steals .The strength

Forging results in metallurgical recrystalisation and grain refinement as a result of the thermal cycle and deformation process. This strengthens the resulting steel product particularly in terms of impact and shear strength.Forged steel is generally stronger and more reliable than castings and plate steel due to the fact that the grain flows of the steel are altered, conforming to the shape of the part.
Advantages of forging
Generally tougher than alternatives
Will handle impact better than castings
The nature of forging excludes the occurence of porosity, shrinkage, cavities and cold pour issues.
The tight grain structure of forgings making it mechanically strong. There is less need for expensive alloys to attain high strength components.
The tight grain structure offers great wear resistance without the need to make products “superhard” We have found that, on a blank HRC 38-42 forged grinder insert wear/wash is about the same as a high alloy HRC 46-50 cast grinder insert. The difference being a HRC 46-50 casting does not have the ductility to handle high impact grinding.

Steps For Making the Aluminium Forge
• First collect all the parts require for making the aluminium forge
• The material that were used for the making of the forge were
• A steel bucket made up of hard steel so that it may be able to bear the temperature for the forging process
• A propane torch which will be used as the fuel for the forging if propane torch is not available we may use the charcoal but propane torch is mostly preffered over charcoal.
• A hacksaw which is used for cutting
• A drill machine used for drilling the hole in the steel bucket for the propane torch to be inserted the bucket
• A small steel hard can which will be used as putting the aluminium pieces to be melted
• A ball peen hammer
• Safety
grinding Cubic boron nitrate and diamond is used and in conventional- silicon carbide, ceramic grains or aluminium oxide is used. Since iron comes under the conventional grinding, grinding wheels that are made of silicon carbide, ceramic grains or aluminium oxide could be
Due to wood having these defects it is a lot harder to control all of the different ways it can fail. So maintenance can be expensive. Also Steel does not break or shatter as it is the toughest material and is very hard wearing. Also Steel provides more sound insulation than timber due to the wood not being dense. Although a disadvantage of steel to timber is that timber construction is much quicker than building with steel.
Problem/Need: The FFA camp for our FFA district has been hosted for many years. Every year FFA students from our FFA district attend this camp. Its purpose is to help students establish leadership qualities and allows them to interact with new people. They have recently contacted FFA advisors from the district asking for donations for a new charcoal grill.
The four test specimens are all made from cold drawn steel. When steel is cold drawn, the crystal structure changes and creates stress. The stress in the grains can be reduced by the process of annealing. Quenching creates small stresses because carbon does not have time to escape. The annealing process is when
Cast shears are formed when liquid metal is poured into a mold or cast and cooled. Forged shears are made when the steel is heated and then shaped by an individual craftsman. 3. List three ergonomic considerations when buying shears. There are all kinds of shears there are left handed siscors there are ones to thin out hair and rounded facial hair .
Damage Controlmen have been stripped of there welding Certifications. Baring the men and woman of the Damage controlmen rate from using their welding abilities on ships and small boats is not only a disservice to the Coast Guard but also its members. Since Damage Controlmen are not allowed to weld on vessels they are not able to preform their job in a satisfactory manner, this practice it is not cost efficient and it is resulting in more casualties. Damage Controlmen (DC’s) have been stripped of their welding Certifications they acquired from the Coast Guard because of a few preventable mishaps, due to the lack of following procedures that were already in place and working. Upon completing DC A-School the 3rd Class DC’s are taught the basics
For example, when Miodownik explains how metals were better for making tools compared to wood, bone, and flint, he explains that “they can be hammered into shape: they flow, they are malleable.” [1] Metal has many other physical properties that make them useful for tools as metal can be rehammered back into shape or melted to create into a different tool. Another example is with razors. Miodownik explains the process of blunting razors is due to the structure of metals in how the atoms are arranged in a crystalline shape and in a specific way. Razors blunt because though collisions between the metal blade and hair, the crystals rearrange shape because bonds may weaken or be destroyed between the atoms in the crystal which creates slight dents on the razors edge.
Steel is durable because it lasts for a long time so you do not have to worry about it rusting. Steel is also strong because it can hold a lot of weight. Because of the durability and strongness of steel the invention of skyscrapers were starting to appear. Steel is strong enough to be used for building structures and big projects. Although steel was used with big tasks it is also used in small items that people use in their everyday life.
Welding has always been a passion of mine ever since my step-dad first showed me what welding was when I was 14, ever since then I’ve wanted to go into some field of welding, as long as i got to weld. I quickly picked up on how to weld and what is required when welding, including but not limited to patience, steady-hands, precision, strong will and so on and so forth. What we are going to be going through with this paper is everything that would come with welding for a living ranging from how much money you make a year to what kind of education is required. Welding does not require a very high education to go into the field.
The scale of the sculpture is quite large, it is approximately 6 feet long horizontally, 4 feet tall vertically, and 16 inches deep (Fig.5). Welding has come a long way from when it was first invented and will continue to evolve as new technology comes
Its material is manufactured from cobalt chromium, one of the most suitable metals to be used due to its corrosion resistance as well as its biocompatibility. As you can see throughout the history of knee replacements there has been steady amendments to the materials utilized to manufacture devices in order to increase the safety of patients nevertheless there is still much more development required to sustain the never ending health problems
The forge burns away impurities and strengthens the metal. With [katanakaji](http://badassu.net/katanakaji-smart-way-to-improve-your-life/), the blade is sharped (you know who you are and what you want), but with the forge the metal is harden (you have the power to make it happen). Combine this with [super focus](http://badassu.net/super-focus-skill-of-a-badass/) (you put in the repetitious practice to hone your skills) you can easily dispatch your demons with your perfect blade. ## Creating Your Forge Choosing your forge (the environment that challenges you) is very important.
Bronze, however, was the preferred metal for many reasons. Iron was not much harder than bronze. Bronze could be easily melted in a pot over a fire whereas iron making required a furnace and carefully controlled temperatures. Tin was easy to extract, however iron required hotter temperatures and more processes. Overall, extracting and smelting iron is a much more complicated process.

Introduction: The objective for the lab was to determine properties of materials by using a tension test. The properties that were determined was Young’s Modulus, ultimate tensile strength, and yield strength. Three aluminum alloys were tested. The first was the AA 2024 , which is high strength used in aerospace applications.
