It is assumed by many people that studying abroad gives one a competitive advantage over students studying locally. According to the OECD Library, the number of students studying abroad rose from 0.8 million in 1957 to approximately 37 million in 2009 internationally (Oecd-ilibrary.org, 2011). In the UAE, this topic has become quite a controversial issue due to the amount of students studying abroad. Students have different reasons to leave, particularly due to the lack of opportunities provided many years ago. The Emirati government provided numerous opportunities and advantages to the education systems and the quality of life in the UAE, so is it still a question of lack of opportunities? On a personal level, the most important aspect is the feeling of accomplishment one brings back to their family. People who succeed abroad repay the favor to their parents for the moral and the financial support provided throughout the academic years. Moreover, some students might choose to study abroad in order to meet new people and become more acquainted with many different cultures, traditions, and backgrounds. In time, those students will have a better judgment of who to trust as well as who to become close to. Similarly, on the social level, students studying abroad will gain new experiences based on decisions that will be encountered on an everyday basis, and so this will generate the knowledge and skills needed to become an independent mature leader with specific objectives for the future. Some might also argue that studying abroad will offer a better education. For instance, some universities abroad have specific programs which require students to go to seminars, write reports on attended workshops, or involve students ' interaction to get things done in a creative and well-constructed
