To that I’d say that nuclear power has not done as much damage to the environment as fracking and off shore oil rigs, only when major accidents occur, which are very uncommon. Another benefit of nuclear energy is that it does not take up as much space as other sources of energy to produce the same amount of energy. A Newsweek article by George Will has stated that, "To produce 20% of America’s energy by wind... would require 186,000 tall turbines 40 stories tall... covering an area the size of West Virginia. This same amount of energy could be produced by 4 nuclear reactors occupying only 4 square miles of land". This claim states that, to produce the same amount of power, nuclear power can do it in a much smaller place than wind power.
Not many people know about hydraulic fracturing or fracking. Many think if they do not know what it is then it is not important. That is very untrue. Whether fracking continues or ceases, the impact will affect the United States of America. Although it has a possibility of harming the environment, fracking is great for the economy and is environmentally better than other resources such as coal mining.
There will be minimal or no greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas causing warmer temperature and switching to renewable energy will reduce the emission of CO2 significantly. Wind and solar energy are less likely to have a major failure because there will be many scattered around a large area and they are interchangeable systems
Another pro for fracking is the reduction of surface toxicity. Since all the chemicals are pumped underground they cause close to no damage to if they are released on the surface or in the air. It is then less likely to contaminate bodies of water and the air. It can lead to a major decrease in air pollution due to reduced carbon dioxide emissions and less dependency on nuclear plants and coal. Lower energy cost is also a big pro because since oil and gas are obtained locally, industries that rely on fuel resources can be affected because of lower energy costs.
There are 6 operating power plants in Illinois and 11 reactors. The power plants are Braidwood, Byron, Clinton, Dresden, Lasalle, and Quad Cities. Dresden was the first power plant to open. Its first reactor was opened in 1960 and retired in 1978, being open for 18 years. It’s second reactor was then opened on April 24, 1987.
Using wind energy would be the best way to solve the world’s pollution problem that cause by burning of fossil fuel. The reason why I personally think that is the best way to solve the pollution is because the wind energy (wind turbine) only uses wind to produce electricity. Wind energy is plentiful, renewable, clean and produce no harmful gas. The effects to the environment are less problematic than the other nonrenewable energy source. It is also cheaper than coal or burning gas.

To successfully have hydrogen as a fuel source, it needs to have no greenhouse gas produced while it is being produced or used.
