As we all know there are a 3G and a 4G that appear in the top right corner of our phones but what does that really mean. Why does it take longer to watch videos and listen to music on 3g but not with 4g? Let’s dig a little deeper to understand why. For starter 3G stands for third generation while 4G stands for forth generations. 3G originally consists of 144 Kbps (about 8 minutes to download a song) but today is runs about 400 Kbps meaning its internet is running at a faster pace. Every cellular phone has 3G it is a basic network until it reaches a different tower. Downloading speeds from a 3G will drive you crazy. It takes a while to complete download pictures and when listening to music it buffers and takes a long time to play the next song. But I guess 3G is good for something; it teaches patience. 3G phones usually have mobile broadband meaning you can video conference or streaming a video off the internet or downloading email attachments. Some reasons why people may want a 3G phone is because some may only use the phone to talk on and not utilize the internet. Or they may live in an area where there is no 4G coverage or the customer simply wants to save money.
