Judah had many advantages during the Biblical period. It is very central in the east causing it to be directly in between many empires. It is also in a key location for many travelers and traders, meaning that they have to pay a travelers toll or tax providing money for the government of the land. It was often in between conflicting empires or on the path of a conqueror. The land of Judah also has religious value for the major religions of the world.
Judah had many strengths that caused the land and the people to thrive. The Jews were able to help each other when they were in need. When the Assyrian Empire attacked Israel, the Israelites were able to move to Judah where they were taken in. The broadwall was built to accommodate and protect

The Kings of the Empires were inconsistent with their treatment of the Judeans. “הַדָּבָ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־הָיָ֤ה אֶֽל־יִרְמְיָ֙הוּ֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה אַחַ֣ר ׀ שַׁלַּ֣ח אֹת֗וֹ נְבוּזַרְאֲדָ֛ן רַב־טַבָּחִ֖ים מִן־הָֽרָמָ֑ה בְּקַחְתּ֣וֹ אֹת֗וֹ וְהֽוּא־אָס֤וּר בָּֽאזִקִּים֙ בְּת֨וֹךְ כָּל־גָּל֤וּת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ וִֽיהוּדָ֔ה הַמֻּגְלִ֖ים בָּבֶֽלָה” (Jerimiah 40:1). This is a quotation from Jeremiah that shows a change of behavior in a ruler of an Empire. This shows a weakness because it means that the empire was inconsistent with itself and it did not have a continues united front in regards to Judah. Another weakness that other empires had to manage different battles too. In the Nebuchadnezzar chronicles, there are records of other battles that the Babylonians had to fight other than against the Judeans. “In the month of Kislîmu he took the lead of his army and marched to Egypt. The king of Egypt heard it and mustered his army. In open battle they smote the breast of each other and inflicted great havoc on each other. The king of Akkad turned back with his troops and returned to Babylon” (Nebuchadnezzar Chronicles Rev. 6-7).
