Addressing the needs of children with learning difficulties, “impairment" The children who are learning disabled is not because they are deficient in intelligence, have problems in studying potential or slow in activity but they are learning disabled due to problem in educational conditions or any problem in the dysfunction of the child. People with learning disability belong to a group of very diverse individuals but they do share common problem. They do not learn in the same way as their non disabled peers. Although most possess normal intelligence, their academic performance is significantly low. Learning disabled people have this problem because they face great difficulty in listening, speaking, reading, writing and mathematical intelligence.
In addition to this, behavior management issues are of critical importance for the teachers of English language learners with special needs. Such teachers must know the needs related to children’s disability, possess cultural and linguistic knowledge. Unfortunately, in the majority of cases, lack of knowledge and little understanding about second language acquisition provide inappropriate educational services. Teachers do not fully understand the influence of native language on intellectual and cognitive development and the impact of cultural differences on students’ performance. Most commonly, ELLs with and without disabilities are often taught by teachers with insufficient experience and qualifications.
One negative effects of technology in today's classroom is that it can take away valuable learning time. For instance, in today's classroom, teachers are pressed to make every minute count. If the teacher and students are not experienced with technology in the classroom, valuable time is often wasted on technical glitches. In addition, the teacher faces the difficulty of having a class full of students who are all at different skill levels. In many schools, most students will have a computer and Internet access, but schools that are located in impoverished areas may have a large portion of their student body with little to no computer experience.
Although some children struggle with this transition, they find school life very daunting, where surroundings are not the same, expectations and procedures different and faces as yet unfamiliar. Of course, there is plenty more logical reasonings to get rid of a grading system or school itself, just like John Gatto states, “Plenty of people throughout the world today find a way to educate themselves without resorting to a system of compulsory secondary schools that all too often resemble prisons” (273). Point often overlooked, is a lot of people’s parents or grandparents did not finish high school and went straight to work instead and ended up fine. Important to realize, that times have changed and nowadays it takes at least a high school diploma to even get a job that can provide for a family in a student’s future. Sometimes, certain professions at least require a certificate or college education and to get those a student needs good passing grades to take these courses and succeed.
There are many different traits that people possess that make them individuals, for me, the most important or prominent trait would probably be my need to always have things planned out in advance and as well as possible. I gained this trait mainly through elementary school, I was very unorganized throughout most of it and even though I wanted to be getting good grades, I was always losing and forgetting about my homework. Over time I think I just started to sort of overcompensate by being much more organized that I need to be. While it can sometimes be hard to plan out everything as much as I would like, it has been very helpful for me in the past with school work and all of my jobs I’ve had for me to be pretty good at organization and time
Literature Review “Children know how to learn in more ways than we know how to teach them.” —Ronald Edmonds (1991) Each child learns in a different way, therefore if teachers are mainly focused on instructing the majority auditory/visual learners; the students who have different learning styles needs aren’t being met, which results in lack of basic skills moving forward. The idea of one instructional strategy fitting all is creating a void in classrooms; which in turn is failing to help those students struggling the most. Campbell, Helf, and Cooke, (2008) suggests a reason for some students’ ongoing lack of achievements that, “too often, students are instructed indirectly, watching and listening to the teacher or other students with little or no opportunity to actually read” (p. 268). Children who are unsuccessful early are more likely to start disliking reading and avoid it all together (Campbell et al., 2008). When children aren’t successful at reading from early on, they’re at a substantially higher risk of being unable to read at grade level (Campbell et al., 2008).
Homework can have its upsides to it but overall homework isn 't as beneficial as some people may think because students spend so much time on there homework they don 't have much time to do extracurricular activities and spend time with their families, also students might struggle with their homework and might not have help at home to get it done, last students begin getting homework at a very young age and they start experiencing the stress of it even in kindergarten or first grade. Students can have a difficult time with homework and can cause them so much stress that they can become extremely overwhelmed. Students spend so much time on their homework they don 't have much time to do extracurricular activities and spend time with their families.
Therefore, they mostly people of Pakistan want to send their children to the English teaching school that is very costly. However, this has a lot of negative effects on children. For example, they might not have the capacity to increase their critical thinking skills while learning a new language before entirely knowing their native language. Also, teaching English in the lower classes will decrease the amount of discussion within then and may create earning difficulties as well as cultural. Moreover, there are a lot of chances that these children will forget their first language.
