You know how stores have music in the background and in-between let’s say “Target Radio” an advertisement will play through the speakers? Well the voice advertising XBOX could be an attractive voice. Question 3 advantages and disadvantages of magazine advertising
Advantages:
1. Long “shelf life”- People tend to keep magazine around for years. Chances are your doctor’s office has magazines from years ago.
2. Targeted audience- Chose magazines based off their interest. If your selling eyeshadow you can advertise in a beauty magazine.
3. More pass on exposer- People tend to pass on magazines they like to their family or friends.
4. High reader involvement- Because magazines are so colorful and have lots of pictures people are more engaged.
Disadvantages:
1. Very limited flexibility- You are limited by where you can afford to place the ad and how big the ad format will
“Ding!” somebody’s iPhone goes off everywhere people turn because everyone has an iPhone especially teenagers. Every year Apple comes out with a new and improved iPhone for consumers. The advertising of the new iPhone gets the audiences attention based on how well the commercial is, and it influences buyers to buy their new product.
For many years, companies have utilized advertising as a useful tool to promote their brands, convey a message, or sell their products. In today’s world, advertisements can be seen almost everywhere from enormous billboards along highways to a diminutive ads on a phone. But not all advertisements are successful. To convey a message, advertisements must contain rhetorical devices such as pathos, logos, and ethos. A good example of how rhetorical devices are used to persuade an audience is the Edward Jones “Nine Days” commercial.
1. Writers of persuasive essays get people to adopt an idea or take a side using a thesis and strong supporting evidence. Words with positive and negative connotation also play a role in influencing people. An example of this is found on pages 42 and 43. Here, Al Gore uses valid evidence from multiple studies, and David Gelernter uses multiple words with negative connotation 2.
The first persuasive strategy in order to raise awareness is the use of the rhetorical appeal, logos. Logos is an approach used in order to appeal to logic, and is a way of influence an audience by reason. Mairs uses empirical evidence such as statistics, facts and data such as percentage of employment to convince the audience. Everyone's favorite online shopping site, Amazon just aired a new commercial advertising their line of Alexa devices. This commercial was strategically designed to appeal to all audiences and persuade them to purchase an Alexa device. This advertisement uses many different rhetorical devices to appeal to an audience. These are pathos, logos, ethos, personification, repetition, colors, clarity and framing. An important part of this commercial was the use of well known celebrities to attract certain people.
Rhetorical strategies including pathos, ethos, and logos are stylistic elements often used as a persuasion technique to get an audience to either buy a product or participate in something. Advertisements almost always have at least one of these three components, and Super Bowl commercials specifically are renowned for their entertaining use of these strategies. Of the many Super Bowl commercials, two stood out to me for their in-depth use of all three of these rhetorical strategies. The first commercial combines the extreme measures taken by an overprotective dad and the new Hyundai Genesis. These two seemingly unlike ideas are brought together in a collaboration that effectively use pathos, ethos, and logos to prove the audience of their product.
In the Budweiser commercial “Puppy Love” it utilizes the persuasion tool pathos for specifically this reason. The commercial follows a puppy that constantly sneaks away to visit his friend a Clydesdale horse (Budweiser Brasil). However, the puppy is always found by a man who returns him to his caretaker (Budweiser Brasil). The story of a cute puppy is already enough to get the average viewer to show an emotional response. Add that to a friendship with a beautiful Clydesdale horse and that is sure to get the viewers’ hearts warmed.

Advertisers make attempts to strengthen the implied and unequivocal messages in trying to manipulate consumers’ decisions. Jib Fowles wrote an article called “Advertising’s Fifteen Basic Appeals,” explaining where he got his ideas about the appeals, from studying interviews by Henry A. Murray. Fowles gives details and examples on how each appeal is used and how advertisements can “form people’s deep-lying desires, and picturing states of being that individuals privately yearn for” (552). The three modes of persuasion are ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos, pathos, and logos are used by individuals who desire to persuade an audience with a particular argument or claim. Persuasion techniques are often used by political figures, sales people, entrepreneurs, and just about anyone trying to persuade a target audience through emotions, character, and logic. The ad, I Am One, shows how these vehicles of persuasion are presented and used; rhetorical strategies like tone, attitude, and non-rhetorical strategies related, patriotism and history references.
There are numerous persuasive devices that can be used as tricks in order to appear credible in the eyes of the audiences. There will be eight persuasive devices that will be mentioned in this analysis which are artistic proof which consist of ethos, logos and pathos, facts, repetition, positive dictions, analogy and rhetorical questions. 3.1 Artistic proof According to Aristotle, persuaders use proof to persuade audiences. Aristotle describes artistic proof as proof that is created, or invented by the persuaders.

At the beginning of the 19th-century ads in magazines weren’t as much as popular as now because paid advertisements back then had a special tax. But shortly the invention of the rotary press, the number of magazines who increased their pages with advertisements encouraging the buyer of their product are so many. At that time, magazines just became available to the middle-class people, not just the rich ones. Therefore, magazines sales increased so much and a lot of copies are made.
