In North Africa, there are mainly 4 types of farming system which is highland mixed , rainfed mixed, irrigated and dryland mixed farming system. The most common type of agriculture farming system in North Africa is highland mixed system which consist of two major subsystem and they can affect each other, it support 30% agriculture in North Africa in 2001.The first system is dominated by rainfed cereal and legume crop , tree crop ,vegatable crops, commonly it is comprise primarily of monocultures. At summer season ,it need to provide some supplementary irrigation in order to plant crops just like melons that are high water content and nutrient content fruits. Second system is mainly base on livestock (mostly is sleep) on grazing lands surrounding these cropped area. it is also a kind of transhumance system which means it repuires to migrating between lowlands and uplands as the charge of season and resources. The advantage of highland mixed farming system is increasing the competition from subsidized imports of meat and dairy products which impoverish small local producers as it provide larger farming area for them. Also, it reduces the water erosion by use of terraces as reducing the slope in order to maintain the soil content for farming, therefore it prevents nutrient content flushed by water.
