You can evaluate your success of personal growth by the positive changes. Looking back, I was a very introvert person, I could not utter a single word to any stranger but now I can speak comfortably to anyone and even I can start a conversation which seemed impossible to me in the past. I have partially succeeded in avoiding procrastination by using 5 sec rule and I could complete most of the tasks in the to do list by avoiding procrastination. Note taking is the easily executable strategies to me. I helped me to remember things and hence my listening skill because in note taking we should be attentive and listen carefully. Reading and waking up early are the strategies are yet to be accomplished. Taking out some time for reading from the tight schedule is tough and being a late sleeper it is hard to build the habit of waking up early. I am happy with the positive changes in me but I am not satisfied with the results. The accept that I could follow all the strategies because I did not give my best. If I had avoid staying up all night and sleep early, I could wake up early. Reading would be possible If I had not wasted time on social media and watching movies. Like everyone I have also got 24hours and I should know time
I ask myself. Well, turns out reading had a different meaning than what I thought. Reading was never interesting for me. Reading a book was so boring that most of the time I would start watching television and pretend the
SCI411 Academic and personal development Portfolio: Part 1 From not being in education for a few years, being able to recognise my own academic skills, strengths and weaknesses was quite difficult. However, over these first couple of weeks in lectures my learning strengths and weaknesses have made themselves apparent. Whilst filling out the questionnaire Skills Self-Assessment Audit (Theeducators, 2013) it took a lot of understanding of the questions to be able to answer honestly, and my lowest scores reflected this in the personal effectiveness category. What is Personal Growth? The average person attends high school in the attempt to get good grades so they can get accepted into a college. Once in college the goal is to pass various courses with good grades so that you are able to graduate once the time is up. From there job hunting starts and people are searching for a career, something they want to devote their life to and are passionate about. That journey through all those years of schooling comes with bumps in the road, times get tough, people doubt the ability in others, and people may even doubt themselves, but growth takes place along that long journey as it is filled full of mistakes and lessons learned.
Many people argue whether school start times should stay the same or become later in the day. Most students already don't get enough sleep during the night and that can affect their learning experience in school (Wahlstrom). However some positive effects can still come from waking up early in the morning and getting to school around the same time. Although good can come from waking up early in the morning and sleeping in, students still need later school starting times to improve their overall health.
Describe how you would adapt the strategy or activity you identified to meet the needs of the student. To meet Julie 's learning needs, I will adapt the activities to engage her class participation in different ways, and simplify the lesson to fit her learning demands. I will give Julie a copy of reading material, so she can trace the text and follow my reading tempo when I am reading the text to the rest of the class. Because she is able to read text independently at grade level, she can also read the text by herself if she needs to review or revisit the content. Allowing Julie to read along helps improve her comprehension and brings an emphasis on her strength in learning.
Schools should start later because students need their sleep. Researchers, studies, and sleep scientists show that schools that are starting early are affecting the lives of students. Students are too tired to get up in the morning and some some sleep in class do to lack of sleep. Teens that drive to school get into accidents due to barely any sleep at night. Students should have to go to school later because then there wouldn’t be as much of a problem.
Every year that goes by we get a new invention that makes life just a little bit easier. People say, “Honestly who has time to read anymore, between work and kids and or school and my Television programs I have no time” In all fairness there is always time. If you have time to relax you have time to read. There is always time to make room for a great book.
At times when I read there are words that I don’t quite understand. When this happens I look up the word and see how I could use it. This also goes back to my writing, if I find a word in a book that I have read I can add it to my writing to improve my writing skills. When I see the effect of reading on my knowledge it makes me proud of myself because I used to get teased for always reading, but that didn’t matter to me because , in the end, I knew that reading would help me. All those people that teased me for always reading were probably envious of how much knowledge that I could acquire from just reading one book.
initiative for planning their own learning, seeking out the necessary resources, implementing and evaluating their own learning (tenant p10). The research by Tough prompted a multitude of research on the phenomenon. Mudrock and Scutt (2003) explaines self-development in the context of a manager, to improve themselves and perform successfully in order to come across objectives of the organisation. Stickland (1996) states self-development paves the way for employees to be succeeded in their career demands in the emotional convention. In the same way, In contrast, Stickland (1996) argues self-development merely as a self-motivating model and further indicates that people feel difficult to manage self-development procedures without an approach for the direction and practical assistance hence the procedures of self-development are complicated. However, Pedler (1982) mentions that self-development assists managers in organisations to identify their own matters and develop their role as a manager by improving knowledge and skills with the guide provided by colleagues at the
I would like to reflect upon how I manage my work priorities and professional development. In doing so I would go on to explain how I serve as a positive role model in the workplace through personal work planning and organisation, how I ensure personal work goals, plans and activities reflect the organisation’s plans, and own responsibilities and accountabilities. Then I will explain how I measure and maintain personal performance in varying work conditions, work contexts and contingencies, take initiative to prioritize and facilitate competing demands to achieve personal, team and organizational goals and objectives, use technology efficiently and effectively to manage work priorities and commitments, maintain appropriate work/ life balance, and ensure stress is effectively managed and health is attended to. Subsequently, I will discussion on how I assess personal knowledge and skills against competency standards to determine development needs, priorities and plans, seek feedback from employees, clients and colleagues and use this feedback to identify and develop ways to improve competence, identify, evaluate, select and use development opportunities suitable to personal learning style/s to develop competence. Finally, I will look into how I undertake participation in networks to enhance personal knowledge, skills and work relationships, identify and develop new skills to achieve and maintain a competitive edge.
