Viagra contains sildenafil which is the active ingredient. It belongs to a class of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Viagra is used to treat men with erection problems known as impotence. This condition occurs when a man cannot get, or keep a hard and erect penis suitable for sexual activity. This medicine relaxes the blood vessels in the penis allowing blood to flow when sexually excited.

This medicine can be taken with or without food. However, you may notice that Viagra might take longer to start working if you take it with a heavy meal. The usual starting dosage is 50 mg.
You must not take Viagra more than once daily. This medicine must be taken an hour before you plan to have sex. You must swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. This medicine will only help you get an erection if you are sexually stimulated. The amount of time it takes to work is usually between half an hour to one hour. However, it defers from person to person. If Viagra takes longer time or doesn’t work, inform your doctor immediately.
If you take more Viagra tablets, you may experience an increase in side effects and their severity. Do not take more tablets than your doctor tells you to.
