Vote buying is Undemocratic Vote buying is said to be that in which an individual’s vote is been bought by one who makes the highest bid. It is a practice which takes place during the elections. It way in which a person votes in favour of the person or as per the person’s will. It is one of the biggest threat to the practice of fair elections. In simple way we can call it an economic exchange. Bidders are the one who buy the vote and the public is the one who sells it. It even can be called a type of contract where there is an exchange or a give and take relationship. This electoral fraud results in either increasing the numbers of votes for a candidate or lowering down one’s vote share. Instead of the anti-corruption mood prevailing throughout the country, these corrupt politicians are not ready to change their habit of bribing. There are instances where the political parties offers domestic help to the handicapped ones as they have been paid for their vote. Even the Mumbai mathadi (head load carriers) voters, who were told to vote twice and have confessed to having their names in two electoral lists, too need to travel. They also accept, if offered, which mostly is the case, any assistance. Only those political parties who have enough bank balance with them can afford to bribe the voters, not the parties like AAP can afford to do it. These innocent parties attain the parliamentary seats through a proper effort. These instances of bribing will lead to measurement of the votes in monetary value and will result in ignoring its value.
