What would you do if you friend invited you to go to a zoo? When my friend asked me last week, I refused her invitation. Many years ago, I went to zoos happily same as a child until I watched a video about the zoo. In that video, a staff used the camera to record animal’s daily life in the zoo. Comparing with what I saw the video that recording the wild animals’ life, the animals that live in the zoos lose their vitality and wild. I have realized zoo is not a reasonable place for animals. Many people think that zoo is a place can do good things for animals. However, we should get rid of zoos because it neglects the environment where animals are living and deprives of animals’ natural social structure and companionship. They think that people are saving animals from habitat loss, the overhunting of its prey and poaching, even extinction but this isn’t true. One of the primary reasons why we should get rid of zoos is that zoos neglect the environment where animals are living. Zoos cannot give animals enough spaces like their habitat. It is difficult for zoos to provide enough spaces that are similar the natural environment that elephants are used to living in. In the natural environment, an elephant can walk up to 50 kilometers a day. However, zoos usually provide elephants just several acres to walk around. Clearly, comparing with living in the wild, the walking space that elephants have in zoos are decrease a lot. Arnau (2012) writes that the lives of animals that they live in captivity will be much shorter than they live in nature because the small space that is given by zoos causes animals affect the depression and harsh conditions in death. For example, the live of elephants will decrease about 30 years if they are in captivity, while in the wild they can live upwards of 50 years. This difference is too significant to be
