Should humankind introduce Artificial Intelligence to society?
Introduction
Human beings always tend to develop and enhance their quality of life throughout history. They invented various tools, starting with a simple wheel and ending with super computers. However, the ordinary computers could not satisfy the requirement of modern society. This led to the born of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is a program, which in an arbitrary world will cope with the same level with a human (Dobrev 2004, 2). The purpose of AI to help people, making their life more easier and better. If AI is so helpful, the main question of AI’s totally integration appears immediately. Therefore, the main aim of this project to determine the possible application of AI. In this project the both sides of AI and possibility of its totally integration into all infrastructures of the modern society will be examined. Furthermore, the today’s usage of AI will be discussed with some examples of existing something.

The perspective of AI in terms of future development is unbelievable huge. Its field if usage and multifunctionness is almost limitless, which give it an enormous superiority among the ordinary human’s ability. There are several positive sides of AI, which can be main reasons for AI’s total integration.
The first possible advantage of AI is as Kaj (2012, 2) states, artificial intelligence can be upgraded by changing its hardware to a more powerful one, while biological humans cannot simply upgrade their brains. This may lead to the limitless development of digital brains and, furthermore, their evolution. Such consequences are highly favorable for human beings due to the fact that this also can lead to the simultaneous evolution of humankind. But, as Omohundro (2008, p 6) mentioned, the main problem is that Self-improving systems do not yet exist in our world.
The brain will become a greater learner by the things we discover every day. Carr provides examples of the authors in the article. He identifies with the computer in the scene rather than the robotic human and seems to suggest that internet is going to cause us to become more machine-like than machines themselves. How their minds were before and after, how they would for hours but now they cannot.

Leonel Ramos Mrs.Harrell ENG 112 May 3, 2023 Final Exam Essay The articles “'Rise of the Machines' is Not a Likely Future” by Micheal Littman and the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid” by Nicholas Carr discuss the topics of the impact of technology. The articles discuss the same topic in a unique way but sway in view points. For example in the article “Rise of the Machines' is Not a Likely Future” Littman suggest that technology is not here to over take us and going to take over he suggest that AI is still in the work and has room to improve but we should use it to improve society.
When we improve and evolve, when do we cease to be human? We have all the gadgets sci-fi movies from less than 50 years ago portrayed: video chat, drones, voice activation, virtual reality, and more. We are already currently creating the next miracle and great fear: self-learning robots. They will challenge our long-held confidence as the intellectual king as the offspring may surpass the parent. This program will allow me to work with those selected as some of the most advanced in their fields of science and technology, combining both factual evidence and differing analyzed perspectives to answer these questions on human identity.
Many people have different ways of approaching the topic of machines in our society today. Machines have certainly improved how individuals in the workforce produce their good or service; however, these such machines can lead to negative consequences. If our society does not limit our machine 's capabilities, it can lead to effects that cannot be understandable or controllable. Although machines have incredible abilities in reality, these abilities have certain flaws which can lead to something disastrous.
On one hand, new technology allows for people to grow because of the immediate responses that they provided to the user. These immediate answers that are given to the user allows for them to succeed because the answers allow them to understand how they are wrong and how they can succeed in the future. Gilbert explains in his essay how when people seem to fail in the world we often accept a “fake explanation [which] can cause us to tuck an event away and move along to the next one” (142). However, with the impact of new technologies, these “fake explanations” are few and far between since computers now give an actual explanation for the failure. With computers and technology advancing at a fast rate, these “false explanations” which could be given are beginning to die out.
Based upon the analysis, Parnas’ article is geared more towards people involved in the field of Artificial Intelligence where Eldridge’s article is geared towards people who are not necessarily knowledgeable about Artificial Intelligence yet are interested to learn more about the topic. Throughout the article, Parnas maintains the skeptical attitude towards Artificial Intelligence, literally ending with “Devices that use heuristics to create the illusion of Intelligence present a risk we should not accept” (Parnas, 6). Eldridge on the other hand, maintains a positive attitude throughout the article despite the shortcomings of AI. Together, both authors provide compelling arguments for and against Artificial
This article fits with my research because it talks about the positive outcome artificial intelligence can have in the educational field. It is fairly simple to read and was helpful by proving the positive impact. It address the pros and cons about the educational AI that could be used to help students with courses they are having difficulties
In Alan Turing’s paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, he proposes a thought experiment that would eventually be tested, and even later be beaten. He describes an experiment where a man and a woman are in two different rooms and an outside observer has to guess at the sexes of the participants. He then suggests that one of the participants be replaced with a computer. Once humanity is unable to tell the difference and will guess that the computer is human at the same rate that it will guess that it is a machine will answer Turing’s thesis of, “Can machines think?’ (434).

Technology could help people adapt in ways that could help them change the way they live and think. Although, it could negatively affect the way people process information through the internet such as having problems with literacy and distractions. In “Smarter than You Think”, Clive Thompson claims that technology can help humans be smarter. Technology such as computers to mentally challenge themselves, so they can improve. Thompson talks about how playing a computer in any sort of game like chess could be a game changer for humans to help them improve their performance and overcome their mistakes.

Rise of Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Literature Review The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, authored by Nick Bostrom and Eliezer Yudkowsky, as a draft for the Cambridge Handbook of Artificial Intelligence, introduces five (5) topics of discussion in the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ethics, including, short term AI ethical issues, AI safety challenges, moral status of AI, how to conduct ethical assessment of AI, and super-intelligent Artificial Intelligence issues or, what happens when AI becomes much more intelligent than humans, but without ethical constraints? This topic of ethics and morality within AI is of particular interest for me as I will be working with machine learning, mathematical modeling, and computer simulations for my upcoming summer internship at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Norco, California. After I complete my Master Degree in 2020 at Northeastern University, I will become a full time research engineer working at this navy laboratory. At the suggestion of my NSWC mentor, I have opted to concentrate my master’s degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Algorithm Development, technologies which are all strongly associated with AI. Nick Bostrom, one of the authors on this article, is Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy at Oxford University and the Director at the Future of Humanity Institute within the Oxford Martin School.
The attraction of artificial intelligence for me lies in its breadth of applicability, both as a method of problem solving in itself and in a symbiotic integration with other areas of computer science. A broad spectrum of applications exist within the artificial intelligence field, ranging from intelligent non-player controlled characters in computer game software to a ubiquitous computing solution that intelligently reacts to a variety of users. This diversity is one of the main reasons that I feel compelled to pursue artificial intelligence further. While I have striven to develop my understanding of artificial intelligence during my undergraduate education, the choreographed requirements of a bachelor's degree have restricted my research to only a minute sample of artificial intelligence’s applications. During my exposure to the field, I have often been unsatisfied with the level of interaction artificial intelligence displays in response to prompts of varying complexity.
