Advantages of democracy I. Democracy safeguards people’s interests. The key advantage of democracy is safeguarding the interest of the people. Real power rests in the hands of the people who elect representatives responsible for them. It is believed that social, political and economic interests of the people are very well handled under this system. II. Democracy is based on the equality principle. Democracy is said to be based on the principles of equality because all the members of the state are equal under the law.
