1 INTRODUCTION
Freemium business model is the new ‘hit’ business model of the moment as it is revolutionizing today’s industries. It is helping making the world a better in a way that it allows people to access tools and services that they would never be able to afford before.
The world has gone digital and people always look for the next new free product to try and it must be the simplest service but also provide an instant value. Freemium is the business model that has been growing in popularity among businesses and obviously users/consumers due to apparent simplicity. Freemium is composed of the two terms “free” and “premium”. The word ‘freemium’ in itself was created after a discussion on Fred Wilson’s blog in 2006 where he wondered of what kind of business model allows a business “give your service away for free, possibly ad supported but maybe not, acquire a large number of customers very efficiently through word of mouth, referral networks, organic search marketing, etc., then offer premium priced value added services or an enhanced version of your service to your customer base” (Wilson, 2006). However the origins of the freemium business model come from the business model called shareware. For many workers in this field of service, these short-term engagements provide a amount of income that can help with meeting rent or paying their car note. While it is true that workers in the gig economy are provided with numerous benefits, disadvantages emerge when the needs of these workers are not met.
The price HAS to fit the customer. If we are aiming to sell at the teenage/young adult market we need to think about how much money they actually have to spend on breakfasts. This means that selling at a price too high will not attract them to buy the product so we need to think about how much they would spend at a maximum and sell at a little less than that price. ADVERTISING Costs As a promotional offer we could sell the product at slightly less than what we actually would like for it. We may not be looking for profit doing this, but more product awareness.

It started off by offering infant-related products and managed to grow the business to a few hundred thousand dollars in revenue in less than a year’s time. Soon after, the young startup encountered the problem of low repeat sales. Thus, the entrepreneur started to rethink BabbaCo’s business model. With the revamp of the product offerings, it changed to a subscription-based business model with the introduction of Babba Box.

According to a recent report by McKinsey Global Institute2, it was reported that 20 to 30% of the working age population in America and EU-15 perform independent work, which constitutes up to 162 million people. Notably, close to half of this population of workers rely on such freelance work for their primary income. This changing nature of employment presents benefits for both workers and businesses.
