Nowadays Internet is regarded as an essential tool of people’s lives. Wherever you go – be it a highly developed European state or a poor African country – people have gadgets with access to the Internet. Recent migration crisis showed how mobile devices have become an essential part of human survival, as one call or message to or from the loved ones sometimes does more than any other aid, especially in harsh, emotion-laden moments. Of course, new technologies are not limited to communication, but the latter is one of the most significant issues they are providing. As regards those who managed to reach the destination or who found a safer place, they seek to find their relatives, and friends using ICT. The latter do not limit to calling or texting people, it goes far beyond providing people with a chance to involve others in finding them.
It is important to mention a descriptive role of social media. People can show what is going on in their region, can provide information of what their needs are, demonstrate real state of affairs and people suffering. Furthermore, sometimes it is the only way to raise public awareness of the situation, since only particular cases enjoy media coverage, while others are doomed to ignorance from international community.
