On the other hand, with a large portion of society starting to dominate the media industry, citizens can emphasize and expose many underrepresented

One hundred years ago nobody heard about the news or current events from Facebook or the newest tweet. Until fairly recently the most up to date news had to be heard through the grapevine or read in a newspaper. Since the creation of the internet and the mass media that comes with it, information can now be spread all the way across the world in the time it takes to hit the enter button on a computer or phone and upload it to the internet. Some people think that this is a bad thing because so many things that are uploaded can be either false information or simply information that is misleading and could teach individuals the wrong thing. However, if mass media is used in the right way it can be beneficial to the accessibility of valuable information,

I think that technology and the internet can and have brought people together. The reason that I say that is because if you are homeschooled, than you can stay connected with your old friends. But if you get cut off from the internet and stuff, and you cannot get to talk to anyone at all, than you will be lonely and not have anyone to talk to. Globalisation is a key factor in today’s modern society with it spreading to even the most remote and poverty ridden continents of the world. It shows how something as simple as a mobile phone can help spread this on a global scale. Africa is the world’s poorest continent with people earning from 75p to £1.50 a day, after taking a closer look and researching into mobile phone use in Cape Town, Zanzibar and The Gambia it shows how local people’s lives are being changed due to the use of a mobile phone. In Africa alone the use of the mobile phone has increased by 65% in the last 5 years[1], this being the first method of ICT that has actually been adopted by locals due to the low price of a handset. Mobile phones are a technologic advancement that have been around since the early 1980’s, they were first seen as a fashion accessory in countries with good economic climates that could afford the very expensive handsets.
